Mission

Scclc is a collaborative public k-8 independent charter school community that educates, nurtures and inspires learners to be independent thinkers as well as socially and personally responsible citizens through academic excellence guided by research, innovation and continuous review.

The organization's purpose is to manage, operate, guide, direct and promote the san carlos charter learning center (scclc), a california public charter school serving students in grades k-8. Approved to operate in 1993, scclc is the oldest charter school in california.

Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

After receiving the 990 from the accounting firm, authorized school personnel review the information against organization records and financials. Any discrepancies will be sent to the accounting firm. Once the final 990 is completed, it will be forwarded to the governing board for review.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

Annually each designated employee, including governing board members and candidates for election and/or appointment to the governing board, shall file a statement of economic interest (form 700)to disclose any potential conflicts of interest in regards to interests in real property, business positions, and income required to be reported under the individuals employment position. The statements are reviewed by the board and filed.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

The board of directors adopted a policy in which compensation is reviewed and approved by use of data as to comparable compensation for similarly qualified, persons in functionally comparable positions at similarly situated organizations. The policy also calls for contemporaneous documentation and recordkeeping with respect to the deliberations and decisions regarding the compensation arrangement. Only employees receive compensation within the organization and no member of the board receives compensation for their time and effort as a participating member.
