Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We work in Education and Community Development programs specifically by providing support to at-risk communities in the countries of Ecuador and Chile.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Investment into the collective Pintag Amaru in the community of Pintag located in the high Andes mountains just outside of Quito. We provided capacity-building workshops and other educational services including extensive online educational programming due to the pandemic as well as investing cash funds into their project called Casa Amaru. This project enhances sustainable agriculture practices in the community reforests approximately 5 acres of land and finances ongoing workshops with local youth. The project focuses mostly on the neighborhoods of Valencia and Santa Teresa and has included the construction of a small community center. There is a direct benefit to 25 community members and an indirect benefit to 75.$16,000$29,500
We have also sponsored an animal husbandry project and nursery projects in two Indigenous communities Tzawata and Mushullakta in the Amazon region of Ecuador. Additionally we have carried out significant free online workshops with local Ecuadorian communities as well as with students and organizations in the U.S.A. For example we did workshops with The Ohio State University Wesleyan University Providence College Macalester College the Asheville City Schools Foundation and more.$3,500$20,600
We supported a project in the community of Mariscal Sucre in the province of Pastaza to further develop the community's tourism programming. We provided regular education programming for the members of the community's tourism association including 4 months of online workshops during the pandemic. We also invited community members to participate in retreats in order to work on the transformation of conflicts that have evolved in the community during the pandemic. We also invested funds to increase their infrastructure including the purchase of construction materials and supplies so as to have a temporary community dining area. Direct support to 15 families approximately 50 people and indirect support to 35 families approximately 150 people.$8,000$15,800
We supported a community arts project carried out by the arts collective Machankara with the community of San Ramon in the province of Cotopaxi. This project carried out weekly workshops with local youth and guided them in creating their own collective comic book with a theme of environmental conservation. It then worked with an artist to bring the youth art into one single format and covered for the printing of enough comic books for all the participants their families and for promotional-educational purposes. Direct benefit to 12 children and their families approximately 50 people. Indirect benefit to approximately 75.$6,000$9,600
