Mission and Program Overview

Mission

We work in Education and Community Development programs specifically by providing support to at-risk communities in the countries of Ecuador and Chile.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
We supported a project in the community of Mariscal Sucre in the province of Pastaza to further develop the community's tourism programming. We provided regular education programming for the members of the community's tourism association with a special focus on for a cooperative of women in the community. We led workshops and courses and invested funds into small-scale projects that helped train local women how to design and carry out community-development projects. We also led education programming to explore alternatives to undocumented migration from the community of Mariscal to the USA. The project included arts-based initiatives that inspired locals to engage in a conversation about the potential impacts of migration on their community. Direct support to 15 families approximately 50 people and indirect support to 35 families approximately 150 people.$13,500$11,244
We have also sponsored projects in capacity building and cultural administration with Amazon-based and Quito-based communities. Additionally we have carried out a significant amount of free workshops with local Ecuadorian communities as well as free online workshops with students and organizations in the U.S.A. For example we did workshops with The Ohio State University Wesleyan University Providence College College of the Holy Cross Clark University American University and others.$3,700$11,948
Investment into the collective Pintag Amaru in the community of Pintag located in the high Andes mountains just outside of Quito. We provided capacity-building workshops and other educational services training a group of community educators that would later work with the community children as well as investing cash funds into their project called Wawa Amaru. This project provides a space for children's educational enrichment. It focuses mostly on the neighborhoods of Valencia and Santa Teresa and has included the construction of a small community center. There is a direct benefit to 25 community members and an indirect benefit to 75.$8,500$6,672
We supported the Indigenous Kichwa community of Mushullakta located in the province of Napo by leading a series of extended workshops on leadership and conflict transformation and we invited them to visit other communities so as to learn from the experiences of other indigenous communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon. We also supported their ongoing projects in reforestation and sustainable agriculture. Direct benefit to 14 families approximately 60 people. Indirect benefit to approximately 50 additional community members.$3,500$6,072
