Child bridge's mission is to find and support foster and adoptive families for montana's children who are in need by offering hope and wholeness and to work toward healing, empowerment and justice for foster children. Child bridge equips families, individuals, volunteers and faith communities to provide and support foster and adoptive homes.
Bridging the gap between churches, communities and government, child bridge builds awareness and recruits foster and adoptive families for montana children. Child bridge then equips those families to care for children in over 20 counties across the state through a variety of resources and trainings. This work is currently executed from offices in the flathead valley, billings, missoula, bozeman, butte and great falls.

“5.empowered to connect 15,568 empowered to connect is led by the renowned karyn purvis institute of child development at tcu. Child bridge hosts this two-day simulcast in each of its regions to train and equip community members. It is designed for foster parents, ministry leaders, social workers, counselors, teachers, parents and other professionals seeking better ways to connect with and help heal "children from hard places- and the adults who work with them. 6.finding a way home 35,409 finding a way home is a statewide initiative in which child bridge comes alongside the state of montana in a non-fiscal partnership to achieve permanency for children who are in permanent legal custody of the state. These children are predominantly harder to place due to extensive trauma and have been in the foster system for an extended period of time. The program officially launched in july 2017 when a memorandum of understanding was signed by both parties, delineating the responsibilities of both child bridge and the state. Before the end of the year, the state placed 3 children in families that were found through child bridge's finding a way home recruiting efforts. 7.foster support team training 12,284 foster families often feel "called" to foster and adoptive care and bring hope and healing to a child who has endured abuse and neglect. What most foster families don't realize is how life changing and difficult this calling will be. Child bridge requires each of our recruited families to have a support team of family and friends who come alongside them, receive training in trauma-informed care, and learn how to support the family who is caring for the foster child. Child bridge support team members attend 3 hours of training.”
“Foster children with new items instead of hand-me-downs speak to them of their worth. Once a child's physical needs are met, they can then begin the journey of emotional healing.”
“1.family camp connect, beartooth camp and camp scholarships: 14,116 "camp connect"is a foster/adoptive family camp that reunites siblings that haven't seen each other in a very long time. They meet at a beautiful camp setting which creates an environment for hope and healing through therapeutic sessions for both the children and the parents, specifically targeting the areas of concern they share. Through a wonderful partnership with casa and many surrounding churches, camp connect impacted 6 foster/adoptive families, joining 15 children that represent over 5 different sibling groups. Child bridge partners with beartooth christian camp for "camp velocity" which provides a five day camp experience for children who have been involved with the foster system. Child bridge staff provides a three-hour training for the beartooth camp staff (10 full time staff and 30 summer staff) using trauma informed principles. During the week of camp velocity, some of our trauma-informed staff attend the camp in order to help the camp counselors with children who might be having a difficult time with the camp experience. Camp velocity serves 70-90 kids per week of camp and, over the last two years, child bridge has provided scholarships for 70 kids to attend these fun and healing summer sessions. 2.care portal 25,967 child bridge has partnered with the global orphan project to bring an innovative approach to empowering churches and individuals to engage in the child welfare system across montana. This life-changing project brings the needs of hurting local children and families to the attention of the community. Child welfare workers uncover and share needs through careportal. Careportal technology makes local churches aware, giving them a real-time opportunity to respond. Careportal gives real meaning to "everyone can do something." in 2017, 271 children were served by 32 active churches, with an economic impact of 102,000. 3.cps worker encouragement 6,942 child bridge is committed to encouraging the child protective services workers that tirelessly serve the children in the foster care system. Throughout the year, child bridge staff and volunteers have provided lunches, notes of encouragement, gifts of appreciation, and holiday gatherings. It is an honor to recognize and give-back in a small way to the gifted employees child bridge works with across the state. 4.deeply loved 37,942 deeply loved is a national retreat for foster and adoptive moms held at the whitefish lodge in whitefish, montana. The goals for the retreat are to help these selfless moms refresh, relax, connect with one another, and be encouraged in their challenging role as a foster/adoptive mom. Deeply loved was attended by 175 women and who were "inspired, supported, seen, loved, and rested."”

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILY RECRUITING AND ADOPTION GUIDANCE: ACROSS MONTANA, NEARLY 4,000 CHILDREN HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THEIR BIOLOGICAL FAMILIES DUE TO SEVERE ABUSE OR NEGLECT. WITH LESS THAN HALF THE FAMILIES REQUIRED TO CARE FOR THESE CHILDREN, THE NEED FOR MORE FOSTER/ADOPTIVE FAMILIES IS CRITICAL. CHILD BRIDGE RECRUITS FAMILIES FROM THE MONTANA FAITH COMMUNITY TO ADOPT AND/OR FOSTER ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN RESIDING IN MONTANA'S CHILD WELFARE SYSTEM. IN 2017, 230 CHILDREN WERE PLACED WITH CHILD BRIDGE RECRUITED AND/OR SUPPORTED FAMILIES, ADDING TO OUR HISTORICAL SUCCESS OF 519 CHILDREN PLACED AND 67 CHILDREN ADOPTED SINCE 2011. WELL OVER 15,000 PEOPLE HEARD THE MESSAGE ABOUT THE NEED FOR FAMILIES TO FOSTER AND/OR ADOPT IN 2017. |

MANY TIMES WHEN A CHILD IS REMOVED, THEY ARRIVE AT THEIR FOSTER HOME WITH NOTHING. MANY CHILD VICTIMS OF TRAUMA HAVE GONE WITHOUT BASIC PROVISIONS SUCH AS HYGIENE ITEMS, WARM CLOTHING OR SCHOOL SUPPLIES. BY PROVIDING SOME FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UPON A CHILD'S REMOVAL, WE SEEK TO PROVIDE A CHILD WITH THE DIGNITY OF ARRIVING TO SCHOOL IN CLOTHES THEY FEEL PROUD OF AND WITH THE NECESSARY CLASSROOM SUPPLIES TO SUCCEED AS THEY GO THROUGH THE TRAUMATIC CIRCUMSTANCES OF BEING REMOVED FROM THEIR BIOLOGICAL FAMILY. AT CHILD BRIDGE, WE BELIEVE THAT PROVIDING FOSTER CHILDREN WITH NEW ITEMS INSTEAD OF HAND-ME-DOWNS SPEAK TO THEM OF THEIR WORTH. ONCE A CHILD'S PHYSICAL NEEDS ARE MET, THEY CAN THEN BEGIN THE JOURNEY OF EMOTIONAL HEALING. |

CHILD BRIDGE SUPPORT TEAM MEMBERS ATTEND 3 HOURS OF TRAINING. |
