IRS990/Desc0Results for America (RFA) initiative believes that in this age of scarce resources and growing social problems, government funding should support programs that have demonstrated that they work well this way millions of families and young people will be better positioned to succeed. Over the past year, RFA has begun to build a high-level bi-partisan coalition to develop and share policy ideas; has worked with leading academics to research and propose new funding mechanisms; and has developed a road map for how federal agencies can build the infrastructure to support evidence-based funding. RFA supports policy makers who wish to implement evidence-based funding with training, Fellowships, and policy ideas. CollegePoint, a new initiative at America Achieves, in partnership with leading philanthropists several other non-profits, is committed to doubling the number of high-performing low- and moderate-income students enrolling in the top 350 colleges and universities in the country. CollegePoint is launching partnerships to identify, mentor and support these students through the application and matriculation process. The goal is to reach over 25,000 students in its first year of operations, and help enroll over 7,000 in top colleges and universities. Additionally, to ensure that the places and funding exist to support these students, CollegePoint has convened a task force of leading experts in college leadership, admissions, and operations to develop actionable recommendations for institutional governance, public policy, and philanthropy. America Achieves also continues to work to improve K through 12 education in the US. To do so, America Achieves supports communities of educators and parents as they benchmark practices and student performance to high standards, engage in educating policy makers at the local and national level, share lessons learned, and use data to make measurable improvements. The three main programs include a Fellowship for Teachers and Principals; the Global Learning Network, which works with Superintendents to support their implementation of important assessment tools for international benchmarking of student performance; and Raise the Bar, a program that works with parents to provide them with tools to evaluate and support their childs education progress. More information on these programs is below:Teachers and Principals have a tremendous amount of value to contribute to policy discussions in education, but their voices are seldom part of the conversation. America Achieves, through its Fellowship program, identifies and supports leading educators and helps them become part of the broader discussion on how to improve education in the US. In 2013, the Fellowship for Teachers and Principals recruited a second cohort of 65 teachers and principals, expanding the National Fellowship from 42 to 107 outstanding educators who engaged in over 250 high-level speaking engagements, advising opportunities, publications, and presentations during the last year. Our teacher-to-teacher Common Core website, which provides access to videos of great teaching practice and supporting resources, formally launched in September 2013 had 108,000 visits and grew to nearly 22,000 registered users.Although the United States has made progress in educational outcomes for students, global peers are making progress faster and we are falling behind. The Global Learning Network seeks to address this problem by providing individual schools and districts with information on how they compare globally, access to best practices, and a learning community to inspire and equip them to take action to make faster progress in the effort to ensure all students achieve world-leading outcomes. In 2013, the Global Learning Network provided approximately 400 high schools nationally with information about how they compare globally and engaged nearly 200 educators in convenings designed to facilitate understanding of results and the identification of practice
