Subsequently, at the end of the fiscal year, the board typically has gone into executive session, and after assessing the ceo's performance, made a decision about whether and how much of her bonus to award and whether to adjust her salary for the subsequent year. The board approved veronica's fy19 bonus and fy20 salary and communicated it to up in the summer of 2019. The board has not made any changes to veronica's base compensation since the summer of 2019. Hillary casson became the newest up ceo, effective july 1, 2023. In determining her compensation, the board considered the same factors listed above, including benchmark analysis of compensation of peer organizations locally and nationally. The board appointed its chair, emily green, to lead discussions with hillary, and they approved her fy24 compensation in its february 2023 meeting. To determine salaries for our other officers and key employees, up regularly participates in compensation studies of charter management organizations and other peer organizations, most recently in 2021-2022, and uses that to adjust our network office salary bands as needed and to review individual salaries to ensure all are competitive. We have awarded cost of living increases annually and made salary adjustments to remain competitive with the local education market. For 2023-2024, we updated our salary bands and reviewed all individual salaries and made adjustments accordingly.”
