Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Tax position: the organization currently evaluates all tax positions, and makes a determination regarding the likelihood of those positions being upheld under review. The primary tax positions made by the organization are the existence of unrelated business income tax and the organization's status as a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(4) of the internal revenue code. For the years presented, the organization has not recognized any tax benefits or loss contingencies for uncertain tax positions based on this evaluation. All tax periods prior to 2011 are no longer subject to examination by tax authorities.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0MASSACHUSETTS' ENERGY PRICES ARE AMONG THE HIGHEST IN THE US AND IMPACT THE STATE'S ABILITY TO COMPETE. THE ENERGY COMMITTEE IS FOCUSED ON ADDRESSING THE HIGH COST OF ENERGY IN MASSACHUSETTS AND SUPPORTS A RE-EXAMINATION OF THE STATE'S GREEN ENERGY POLICIES FOR A MORE BALANCED APPROACH TO "CLEAN AND GREEN" THAT MAXIMIZES COST EFFECTIVENESS.PART OF ENSURING JOB GROWTH AND COMPETITIVENESS IS SUPPORTING A THRIVING BUSINESS CLIMATE. WE NEED TO MAKE SURE THAT MASSACHUSETTS IS A DESIRABLE PLACE FOR INVESTORS, ENTREPRENEURS AND THOSE WHO ARE WORKING ON THE LATEST INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES. THE BUSINESS TO BUSINESS COMMITTEE WILL WORK WITH LEADERS FROM THE VENTURE, EDUCATION AND ENTREPRENEURIAL COMMUNITIES TO DEVELOP A STRATEGY TO ATTRACT AND RETAIN HIGHLY-SKILLED TALENT AND COMPANIES TO THE COMMONWEALTH.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/ExpenseAmt0353297
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0MACP BELIEVES THAT PUBLIC OFFICIALS CAN BE DOING A BETTER JOB AT TELLING THE "MASSACHUSETTS STORY" AND PLAY A MORE ACTIVE ROLE IN RETAINING BUSINESSES, PROMOTING EXPANSION, AND ATTRACTING NEW INDUSTRIES TO THE STATE, BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY. THE TRADE AND MARKETING COMMITTEE IS FOCUSED ON SUPPORTING STATE EFFORTS TO MARKET THE COMMONWEALTH IN THE FORMS OF TRADE MISSIONS, OPENING OF TRADE OFFICES ABROAD, AND OTHER MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES.
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/ExpenseAmt0240017
IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0THE "COST OF GOVERNMENT" IMPEDES MASSACHUSETTS' ABILITY TO COMPETE AND PROMOTE JOB GROWTH AND COMPETITIVENESS, AND THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PROGRAMS IMPOSE A HEAVY BURDEN ON THE STATE'S FINANCES. WITH LOOMING UNFUNDED PENSIONS LIABILITIES AND EVEN LARGER UNFUNDED HEALTHCARE COSTS FOR STATE AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES, THERE IS AN URGENT NEED TO REFORM PUBLIC BENEFITS. MACP SUPPORTS EQUITABLE REFORMS TO THE PROGRAMS. THE COMMITTEE IS WORKING IN COLLABORATION WITH PUBLIC OFFICIALS TO DETERMINE WHAT ADVICE THE PRIVATE SECTOR CAN OFFER TO PUBLIC OFFICIALS AS THEY LOOK FOR SUSTAINABLE COST STRUCTURES.
