IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0WOMENOMICS:AT A TIME WHEN GENDER GAPS PERSIST IN EVERY STATE IN THE NATION, MASSACHUSETTS SHOULD LEAD IN SUPPORTING WOMEN. ACCORDING TO A RECENT STUDY BY MCKINSEY, ELIMINATING THE GENDER GAP IN MASSACHUSETTS COULD LEAD TO AN ESTIMATED $73 BILLION IN ADDITIONAL GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT. WE NEED TO INVEST IN EDUCATION AND FORGE STRONG RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN OUR UNIVERSITIES AND EMPLOYERS, CREATE PATHWAYS FOR CAREER ADVANCEMENT, AND ENSURE OUR PUBLIC AND WORKPLACE POLICIES HELP WOMEN REMAIN IN THE WORKFORCE AND RISE TO THE TOP. THE WOMENOMICS COMMITTEE WILL CONVENE LEADERS TO DEVELOP COLLECTIVE AND TARGETED INITIATIVES AND INTERVENTIONS ALONG WOMEN'S CAREER TRAJECTORIES TO ENSURE PARTICIPATION AND ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES. THROUGH THE WORK OF THE COMMITTEE, WE AIM TO MAKE MASSACHUSETTS A LEADER ON WOMEN'S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, WHICH WILL HELP THE COMMONWEALTH ATTRACT AND RETAIN TALENT AND COMPANIES.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0EDUCATION & WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT:WHILE MASSACHUSETTS IS HOME TO SOME OF THE WORLD'S PREMIER UNIVERSITIES, PUBLIC HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE STATE SHOULD NOT BE OVERLOOKED, ESPECIALLY OUR COMMUNITY COLLEGES. WE NEED TO FOCUS ON GROWING MEDIUM-SKILLED JOBS IN HIGH DEMAND FIELDS SUCH AS ADVANCED MANUFACTURING AND HEALTHCARE. THE EDUCATION COMMITTEE IS WORKING WITH EDUCATORS AND PRIVATE INDUSTRY TO DESIGN AND SUPPORT CAREER-ORIENTED CURRICULA IN COMMUNITY COLLEGES TO ENSURE THAT THE MASSACHUSETTS WORKFORCE REMAINS THE BEST IN THE NATION.
