Additional Explanations

Explanation of other changes in net assets or fund balances Part XI line 9

The ending balance of the Visa card as of 12/31/2014 was $1,220 lower than the beginning balance as of 1/1/2014.

General explanation attachment

The additional three month extension request was not timely filed since the Chairman was out of the country and unable to complete the form by the 8/15/15 deadline. The form was prepared but not subsequently submitted due to it being late. The return was filed as soon as the directors had a chance to review the return for accuracy and completeness.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0In-Country Visits: An extremely successful team of 10 Kenya Keys participants went to Kenya in June of 2014. Kenya Keys took a team to Kenya in June 2014. The team took 500 pounds of supplies to be distributed. The team took an anatomical model of a baby in utero that was used for teaching and demonstration. More than 300 students were taught. The model was left behind to be used as a teaching tool at the Taru health clinic. The team also distributed a large number of teaching supplies, books and sanitary kits. The libraries that were evaluated and given books were: The Taru Community library. The Primary schools of Bahakwenu, Magale, Mwenbeni, Fuleye, Egu, Nyari, Taru and Mtulu. Books were given to the Taru Community library and to the McKinnon Rd. and Taru secondary schools. 375 Sanitary kits were distributed to the following schools: Bura Girls Secondary, Fuleye, Mwembeni, Egu, MacKinnon Rd., Matope. 143 of those kits were left with the Save our Sisters group to distribute along with education and advocacy training. Teaching aids were given to all schools in the area surrounding the town of Taru.Ndohivyo Special Needs School: A new energy efficient stove was provided for the school. 33 of the 56 students attending the school were sponsored by Kenya Keys. The grounds keeper and matrons salaries were paid for by Kenya keys as well. While in Kenya, Kenya Keys hosted a Special Olympics event that brought members of the community together with parents to honor the students. It was well attended and highly successful. Leadership, Training & Support: 1)Kenya Keys is partnering with Undugu Mentorship Initiative, a Kenya based all-volunteer, non-profit organization. They are comprised of graduates of the high schools in the Kenya Keys service area who have gone on to College and University and are now returning on weekends and holidays to mentor students in high school and primary schools in studying and career guidance skills. 2)Kenya Keys created and is mentoring the Save Our Sisters girls group of Taru Secondary School. The group visits the nine primary schools in the Kenya Keys service area, empowering the girls to meet the extreme challenges (staying in school, early marriages, rape, prostitution) they face. In conjunction with their presentations on feminine hygiene, they distribute sanitary kits provided by Kenya keys. Presentations: Over 20 public educational presentations were given to High Schools, Elementary and Middle schools, church groups, and rotary clubs in Utah, Oregon and Arizona to promote understanding of poverty issues and the value of education. General In-Service Area: Funds are provided for general administrative expenses in supporting educational sponsorship and educational projects in the Kenya Keys Service Area.

IRS990ScheduleF/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Before money is wired to Kenya Keys (Kenya), Kenya Keys (US) requires contracts and agreements to be in place showing the project budgets, purposes, impacts, accounting, and the names of the stakeholders in the communities where the work or service is to be performed. Annual visits are made by Kenya Keys (US) to review the books of accounting, visit, and evaluate the projects and programs. A selection of disbursement transactions are reconciled. These records, both in the US and Kenya, are maintained in detail, transparent, and open to review at any time.
