Per Show Box LA's mission to support the needs of the Los Angeles community of experimental dance artists and audiences, currently SBLA is focused on a residency program which provides critical structural support to artists as they develop new dance works and actively evolve their unique art practices. It provides artists the creative and administrative traction necessary to access new contexts of presentation and production; and audience engagement through structured artist/community dialogues, open rehearsals, and online presence in Show Box LA's website and communication campaigns. The residency program furthers the concept of creative placemaking in Los Angeles through practical assistance to artists and the communities who view contemporary dance as an intrinsic aspect of cultural life in Los Angeles.

Show Box LA is dedicated to supporting the needs of a growing Los Angeles community of experimental dance artists and audiences. We provide a platform and foster an environment for innovative dance works by Los Angeles artists, as well as build relationships and dialogue with artists around the country. Our programs offer opportunities for artists and audiences to find points of connection through the development, production and presentation of dance works, artist residencies, and to engage in discourse through training, research, documentation related to contemporary dance and performance in its many forms.
