Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Our primary mission is to catalyze a Justice-Led Circular Economy and in so doing to improve public heath. In 2020 we reached a break through with the wide publication of our multi--year research into the secondhand clothing trade and its impact on communities and the environment. Due to the global pandemic we also mobilized our community to support vulnerable essential workers within the secondhand clothing trade with direct food aid and hygienic supplies.

Through a grant and programatic support in partnership with the Kayayei Youth Association in Accra, Ghana we worked to provide food to over 17,000 young women living in dire conditions due in part to the global pandemic.$20,160$4,000
We lead a global team of 20 designers and creatives through an exploration of the Accra's secondhand clothing trade to learn from secondhand retailers and waste pickers in order to design for circular systems.$0$8,023
Together with media partners we publish audio-visual and written media to raise awareness and spur action to address fashion's waste crisis and the social and environmental impacts of the thousands of tons of foreign clothing waste that are dumped in Accra, Ghana as well as the valiant efforts of the Secondhand Community in Accra to recirculate the clothing.
