PRESENTED NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE ANIMAL WELFARE COMMUNITY THROUGH ON THE ROAD WORKSHOPS. RECRUITED IMPRESSIVE CADRE OF ANIMAL WELFARE EXPERTS WHO VOLUNTEERED THEIR TIME TO PRESENT INFORMATION, SKILL DEVELOPMENT, AND SUPPORT FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS OF KENTUCKY SHELTERS AND RESCUE FACILITIES IN 3 DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE STATE. PROVIDED THIS ESSENTIAL SERVICE AS ANIMAL WELFARE SERVICES AT ALL LEVELS ARE PROFOUNDLY UNDERFUNDED IN KENTUCKY WITH MANY ORGANIZATIONS HAVING NO FUNDS FOR TRAINING OR TRANSPORTATION TO CONFERENCES. ORGANIZATION WAS ABLE TO REACH PEOPLE IN OR NEAR THEIR HOME/WORK COMMUNITIES, SAVING THEM TIME AND MONEY, AND ENABLING NETWORKING AND SUPPORT WITH PEOPLE IN THE SAME GEOGRAPHIC AREA STRUGGLING WITH THE SAME ANIMAL WELFARE CHALLENGES. WORKSHOPS WERE WELL RECEIVED BY 100% OF ATTENDEES WHO COMPLETED AN EVALUATION INDICATING THEY WOULD RECOMMEND MADN TRAINING SESSIONS TO OTHERS$0$22,707
PROVIDED DIRECT SERVICES TO ANIMALS IN NEED, INCLUDING 96 CATS AND DOGS IN 2019. DIRECT SERVICES INCLUDED TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN FOR COMMUNITY CATS, SUBSIDIZED SPAY/NEUTER FOR CATS AND DOGS, COMMUNITY CAT CARETAKING AND ASSISTANCE TO CARETAKERS, CONSTRUCTION OF SHELTERS AND FEEDING STATIONS, HELP WITH MEDICAL BILLS FOR INDIVIDUAL ANIMALS AND FOR THE AGENCIES THAT RESCUE THEM, FOSTERING, AND ADOPTION SUPPORT. MADN CONTINUES TO DEVELOP COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH SISTER AGENCIES AND TO PARTICIPATE IN COALITIONS THAT EXPAND OUR REACH AND IMPACT FOR HELPING ANIMALS AND INCREASING PUBLIC EDUCATION. CURRENT PRIORITIES INCLUDE ENHANCING THE ABILITY OF SHELTERS AND NONPROFITS IN UNDER-RESOURCED COUNTIES TO HELP MORE ANIMALS, FACILITATING EACH ORGANIZATION'S ABILITY TO PROVIDE SERVICES THAT UTILIZE ITS STRENGTHS AND ADDRESSING THE WOEFUL STATE OF KENTUCKY LAWS AND REGULATIONS THAT RESULTED IN KENTUCKY BEING RANKED DEAD LAST OF ALL 50 STATES IN ANIMAL WELFARE AND PROTECTION FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS. BECAUSE THE ANIMAL WELFARE COMMUNITY WAS ABLE TO INFLUENCE LEGISLATURE TO FINALLY PASS A LAW IN KENTUCKY BANNING BESTIALITY IN MARCH 2019, KENTUCKY MOVED UP IN RANKINGS FROM 50TH TO 47TH SO THE STATE NO LONGER HAS THE DISTINCTION OF HAVING THE WEAKEST ANIMAL PROTECTION LAWS IN THE COUNTRY. HOWEVER, A CLEAR NEED REMAINS FOR ADDITIONAL EFFORTS TO PROTECT ANIMALS IN OUR STATE.$0$2,494
