Form 990, Part VI, Line 11B: Form 990 Review Process

Prior to filing, the Form 990 will be reviewed by the Executive Director, the Assistant Director, the Board Chair, the Board Treasurer, and then will be distributed to the full Board for review.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 12C: Explanation of Monitoring and Enforcement of Conflicts

The Conflict of Interest policy is monitored by the Board Secretary and reviewed and signed at the annual board beeting by all staff and Board members with significant decision making authority. It is each signators obligation to disclose any potential conflict as soon as it is known, or reasonably should be known. Individuals with conflicts are excused from the room when matters related to the conflict are decided upon.

Form 990, Part VI, Line 15A: Compensation Review & Approval Process - CEO, Top Management

The Executive Director's compensation package was reviewed at the annual Board meeting and voted upon by the Board. Board deliberations were documented and retained on file. The Board reviewed other executive salaries on Form 990s for similar organizations and reviewed executive compensation guidelines provided by the NC Center for Nonprofits.

Monday lunches were discontinued in 2021 due to Covid-19. In 2022 Monday lunches are likely to resume at a limited capacity.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4D: Other Program Services Description

OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 4: Case Management: Provides holistic personal care to individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless. We focus on identifying permanent housing, access to healthcare, and building support by using various tactics. In 2021 we purchased 23 long-range bus tickets so individuals could return to their family support network. We spent $2,122 on prescription medications for individuals who would not have been able to afford their medicines otherwise. We also moved 11 individuals and families into apartments in which we provided furnishing and kitchenware. We assisted 163 individuals with acquiring critical documents such as state ID, social security cards, and birth certificates to help make the initial step in overcoming housing and employment barriers.

In 2021 the Free Store served 643 individuals and distributed 17,911 items of clothing, shoes, and provided furnishings and household items to 11 individuals transitioning from homelessness to permanent housing.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0Case Management: Provides holistic personal care to individuals who are homeless or formerly homeless. We focus on identifying permanent housing, access to healthcare, and building support by using various tactics. In 2021 we purchased 23 long-range bus tickets so individuals could return to their family support network. We spent $2,122 on prescription medications for individuals who would not have been able to afford their medicines otherwise. We also moved 11 individuals and families into apartments in which we provided furnishing and kitchenware. We assisted 163 individuals with acquiring critical documents such as state ID, social security cards, and birth certificates to help make the initial step in overcoming housing and employment barriers.
