Activity 2

In addition to the photographs, the noh8 campaign uses its website and social media accounts with twitter and facebook to inform and educate on issues that impact the community. By posting and highlighting stories that receive limited attention in the mainstream media, the noh8 campaign educates and provides the personal stories that give face to the larger issues. In addition to the personal stories of military personnel, surrogate mothers, and parents, topics covered in 2011 included don't ask don't tell; anti-bullying of lgbt youth; and marriage equality. At the end of 2011 the organization had approximately 275,000 twitter followers and 494,000 facebook fans.

Activity 3

To further raise awareness, the noh8 campaign produced two additional psa's (public service announcements) to add to the five previously produced in 2009 and 2010. In "dmc's anti-homophobia challenge" hip-hop singer dmc provides a call to action by challenging hip-hop artists to help end discrimination and support equal rights. In the second psa "president obama, will you say i do?", celebrities provide a call to action by asking president obama to support same sex marriage. An estimated $10,000 worth of services were donated to produce the psa's. During 2011 the five psa's were viewed approximately 1,100,000 times.
