Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

Operation Chillout OCO continues to focus its attention and resources on the homeless community and particulary homeless veterans by providing needed clothing, toiletries, food and water to this population throughout New Jersey, North Eastern Pennsylvania and Rhode Island. OCO partnered with many veteran, fraternal, community and religious organizations to collect funds for supplies and clothing. Due to COVID 19 instead of collecting supplies and clothing OCO set up an online donations link on their website to collect funds to purchase clothing and supplies to continue their mission of providing necessary supplies to the homeless population. OCO coordinates with homeless shelters, local soup kitchens, and temporary housing projects to distribute these supplies. OCOs volunteers spent over 12,200 man hours purchasing, organizing, packing and distributing the clothing and supplies. . During the Summer Outreach Campaign OCO volunteers distributed clothing , personal hygiene kits, toiletries and 31,000 bottles of water at over 30 separate locations. The Winter Outreach Campaign delivered over 1,008 backpacks filled with new winter clothing, personal hygiene kits, toiletries, gloves, hats and scarfs. OCO also delivered sleeping bags, tents, tarps and emergency survival gear to unsheltered outdoor communitites in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. For the fiscal years 2020-2022 the NJ League of Federated Womens Clubs has designated OCO as their special state project which include Fundraising for the Summer and Winter Outreach Campaigns.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4B

Operation Chillouts Rapid Response Team continues to educate the public about the plight of the homelesss veteran and their unique needs. OCO has noted that on average 1 out of 5 homeless persons that their teams have encountered are military veterans. Team leadership members were able to hold many workshops at various veteran organizations, community groups, law enforcement agencies, municipal agencies, fraternal organizations, and colleges to educate the public of the continuing veteran homeless issues facing our society. Due to Covid 19 in 2020, some of this outreach to various organizations was curtailed. OCOs Rapid Response team operates a Homeless Veterans Rapid Response hotline that veterans can call when they are in a homeless crisis or need help finding services in the community. The Team was able to provide emergency temporary housing to 207 veterans in 2020. They also helped homeless veterans obtain services and benefits through the Veterans Administration as well as obtain housing and income assistance. OCO annual fundraiser -Vets Summer Fest- was cancelled in 2020 due to the continuing Covid 19 pandemic. They hope to be able to organize one in 2022 as Covid 19 subsides. OCO continues to look for opportunities to educate the public and raise awareness about homelessness and the needs of this population. OCO began a new initiative in 2017 to build a tiny house for use by a homeless veteran. The construction of the home was completed in 2018-2019 and moved to a farm in Washington Township, NJ. The first tenant was scheduled to move into the home in fall of 2020. However, due to the continuing Covid 19 pandemic and permit issues, the first occupant has not yet been able to move in. It is hopeful that the first occupant will move in sometime in late 2021. The veteran selected will be able to live in the house for up to 24 months while attending Rutgers University and the Farmer Veteran Coalition for courses in agriculture.

IRS990ScheduleI/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Homeless individuals are identified through the various organizations that OCO partners with to distribute the backpacks, water and clothing. All items distributed are purchased with funds raised by OCO. The items are then given to the organiztion to distribute to the homeless population. Homeless veterans are referred through various veteran organizations or their Rapid Response hotline. OCO volunteers interview each individual and determines their needs. Once detemined either meals and/or temporary shelter are provided until a more permanent solution is found.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0Operation Chillout OCO continues to focus its attention and resources on the homeless community and particulary homeless veterans by providing needed clothing, toiletries, food and water to this population throughout New Jersey, North Eastern Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Operation Chillouts Rapid Response Team continues to educate the public about the plight of the homelesss veteran and their unique needs.
