IRS990/Desc0The specific purposes of the Organization are to raise awareness of and support for research into the causes and treatments of rare cancers. This was accomplished in the past fiscal year by granting $100,000 to Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center to fund Dr. Nabeel Bardeesy's laboratory research into cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer that has seen no significant therapeutic improvements over the past decade. A separate grant of $50,000 was given to support a new cholangiocarcinoma clinical trial at the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, which resulted from previous TargetCancer Foundation-funded research. In addition, the first $25,000 of a $75,000 commitment was paid to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to support Dr. Adam Bass's research around a new clinical trial testing immunotherapy in esophageal cancer. TargetCancer Foundation also paid $8,333 to complete a $25,000 commitment to fund medical student summer fellowships at Harvard Medical School.
