Mission

The organization's mission is to provide immediate, temporary housing to homeless individuals of all social and cultrual identities in isabella county and to advocate for access to services needed by patrons to address their individual needs. As a seasonal, temporary overnight shelter that operates during the coldest months, the organization works to provide guests with: documentation of homlessness, community program referrals, hot meals, advocacy, and community integration opportunities for both individuals and families in need. The organization operates through a rotating model by partnering with local churches, businesses, organizations, and other groups to meet the mission.

AS A SEASONAL, TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT SHELTER THAT OPERATES DURING THE COLDEST MONTHS, THE ORGANIZATION WORKS TO PROVIDE GUESTS WITH: DOCUMENTATION OF HOMELIESSNESS, COMMUNITY PROGRAM REFERRALS, HOT MEALS, ADVOCACY AND COMMUNITY INTERGRATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES IN NEED. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES THROUGH A ROTATING MODEL BY PARTNERING WITH LOCAL CHURCHES, BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS AND OTHER GROUPS TO MEET THE MISSION.

THE SHELTER HAD 23 CHURCHES HOST THE GUESTS. 40 MEN; 22 WOMEN; 7 CHILDREN FOR A TOTAL OF 69 GUESTS. AVERAGED 12 PER NIGHT WITH A PEAK OF 17 GUESTS PER NIGHT. 20 FOUND HOUSING AND 10 EMPLOYMENT. THE SHELTER HAD ROUGHLY 1,000 VOLUNTEERS. OPEN NOVEMBER 1, 2016-APRIL 3, 2016 A TOTAL OF 22 WEEKS. THE SHELTER HAD 24 CHURCHES HOST GUESTS 82 ADULTS, 8 CHILDREN, 4 FAMILIES FOR A TOTAL OF 90 GUESTS. AVERAGED 14 PER NIGHT WITH 15 NIGHTS AT 19 GUESTS AND 5 NIGHTS AT CAPACITY OR SLIGHTLY ABOVE OF 20 GUESTS. THE SHELTER HAD ROUGHLY 1,500 VOLUNTEERS AND OVER 30 BUSINESSES AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT HELPED. THE SHELTER HAS SERVED OVER 208 GUESTS OVER THE 3 YEARS IT HAS BEEN OPEN, INCLUDING FAMILIES AND CHILDREN.
