The treasurer and vice chairs are sent copies. The treasurer asks other board of directors if each would like to see a copy. The treasurer approves and we inform the auditor/accounting firm.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Each employee and intern signs a conflict of interest policy. At weekly staff meetings conflicts would arise if indeed a conflict. The employee or intern would not participate in the activity if his/her performance is in conflict.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Research conducted concerning payment to ceos in washington state ngos. An average was listed by university of washington library document in 2009. At the first board meeting, salary was moved/passed to mirror the average. Salary has not changed since.

IRS990ScheduleF/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0WE HAVE VETTED PEACE WINDS JAPAN FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS. WE HAVE ACCESS TO HOW THEY FUND DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY. WE WILL ASK THEM TO USE OUR FUNDS TOWARD RELIEF OF VICTIMS/EVACUEES OF NATURAL DISASTERS. THEY REPORT TO US HOW THE FUNDS ARE USED. OFTEN WE REQUEST SPECIFIC USE OF THE FUNDS, SUCH AS ANIMAL SHELTERS, OR TEMPORARY HOUSING. PWJ WILL SEND REPORTS AGAIN. ABOUT ONCE PER YEAR WE WILL VISIT THE SITES WHERE THE DISASTER VICTIMS/EVACUEES ARE LIVING, AND INTERVIEW THE RECIPIENTS OF HELP. WE MONITOR THE PWJ WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA TO ENSURE THEY ARE PRESENTING THE DISASTERS ACCURATELY, AND THROUGH THE REPORTS WE ENSURE THEY ARE DIRECTING THE FUNDED RELIEF AND RECOVERY TO THOSE WHO ARE MOST NEEDY.
