Jana's Campaign's mission is to provide quality educational programming that prevents gender and relationship violence. Working through secondary schools, colleges and universities, and community-based organizations and agencies, Janas Campaign delivers specialized prevention strategies and curricula that are designed to prevent violence, build healthy relationships, and create new social norms.Partnering with other advocates, activists, victims, the criminal justice system and lawmakers, Jana's Campaign seeks to reduce and respond to gender violence by pursuing a strategy built on five program areas. | IRS990/Desc | 0 | Through speaking engagements, our videos and social media activities, we reached thousands of people worldwide with the important message of reducing gender violence. Provided dozens of conferences and community presentations throughout the midwest. In 2018 we added another regional Campus Safety Summit, increasing to four total summits.In partnership with the Conference on Crimes Against Women (CCAW), we held out newest summit in Dallas, Texas in April. Also in April we hosted the Midwest Campus Safety Summit at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. This summit had over 80 participants from ten states and 32 colleges and universities. The 2018 Heartland Campus Safety Summit was held at Johnson County Community College. Over 200 participants representing nine states and 64 universities and organizations attended the summit. We hosted the Rocky Mountain Campus Safety Summit in June on the campus of Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. Nearly 70 participants, representing eight states and 33 colleges and universities attended. The purpose of these summits is to provide a regional and affordable two-day workshop for college and university personnel and students that address important issues about preventing and responding to gender and relationship violence.We understand the most effective ways to prevent gender and relationship violence is to help adolescents understand what constitutes healthy vs unhealthy relationships. We believe that by empowering young people to engage in healthy and supportive relaionships and by creating a culture of strong respect among adolescents, we can ultimately reduce the instances of gender and relationship violence.In 2018 we continued to grow our footprint throughtout Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska. As of this year, in Kansas we have provided prevention programming in 84% of the 105 counties. Our team provided 279 presentations and workshops. We worked directly with middle and high school students from 286 schools. Since 2013 we have impacted 542 schools and 59534 students in middle and hogh schools across nine states. |
