The Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition is a grass-roots nonprofit with a vision to build a walking/biking trail system to connect the entire Napa Valley--physically, artistically, and culturally. We are working to design, fund, construct, and maintain 47 safe and scenic miles of level, paved, family-friendly, pet-friendly, free-access Class I trail, stretching from the Vallejo Ferry to Calistoga.

| IRS990/Desc | 0 | Working with our public agency partner, the Napa Valley Transportation Authority (NVTA), work began on the planning and engineering of the 7.2 mile phase of the Vine Trail from St Helena to Calistoga.We completed the third and fourth iconic Vine Trail shelters/rest stops. These facilities have maps, bike racks, benches and bike work stations. The Vine Trail won the Best Trail in Napa County from the readers of the Bohemian newspaper. In addition, the Vine Trail was featured in Conde Nast magazine and several other newspapers and magazines.In its first year of operation, 2017, the Vine Trails 12.5 mile section from south Napa to Yountville recorded 348,400 uses by the public, equivalent to 174,000 round trips. Zip code surveys of almost 2000 trail users revealed that the Vine Trail is used by 70% locals and 30% TouristsWorking with our public agency partner, the City of Vallejo, work began on the planning and engineering of the 4.2 mile phase of the Vine Trail from Vallejo to American Canyon.The Vine Trail between American Canyon Boulevard and Newell Drive in American Canyon was completed adding an additional 1.29 miles. The Coalition's successful Rail Arts District completed seven more murals and twelve utility box wraps in Napa, transforming the backs of industrial buildings into vibrant public art. The Rail Arts District became its own non-profit in July 2018. The Vine Trail recorded 1,788 hours by volunteers, who led tours, raised funds, planted trees and cleaned the Vine Trail. The Vine Trails first major fundraiser celebrating its tenth anniversary raised over $350,000 for the Vine Trail. A large part of the fundraising is going to purchasing a trail sweeping machine. Overall fundraising efforts garnered $878,000.The Vine Trail Maintenance Endowment has helped public agencies maintain and manage the Vine Trail in the amount of almost $40,000.The Vine Trail participated with the Napa Valley Farm Bureau and the Jack Davis Fund to install an interpretive sign celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Napa Valley's Agricultural Preserve.The Vine Trail Coalition will continue its mission of creating a safe, scenic and beautiful trail for residents and visitors to Napa Valley. |
