Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11

Once the 990 has been prepared by the outside accounting firm, a draft copy of the return will be sent to the board for their approval. The executive team will then confirm and motion to pass it via email, if outside of a formal board meeting.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

The issue of conflict of interest is raised at interviews, and again when a contract is signed. If there is any cause for concern we will raise it with the staff member immediately. Staff members are required to renew their contracts annually. At that time, we remind them about the importance of the issue.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

It was decided at a board meeting to pay the executive director an amount of $1,500 per month at minimum, after tax. At quarterly board meetings, dependent on the progress and the financial standing of the organization, a quarterly amount is decided and voted on.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Govering documents, the conflict of interest policy, and the financial statements are made available to the public upon request. Additionally, a copy of the 990 is available on guidestar.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy3Grp/Desc0HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITIONS PROGRAM: THE TRANSITIONS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED TO SERVE AS A BRIDGE TO ADDRESS THE SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, AND ACADEMIC CHALLENGES STUDENTS FACE DURING THE IMPORTANT PASSAGE FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL.
