We evoke empathy and empower people to eradicate child exploitation.

Major Activities

Activity 2
Truckers campaign: with an estimated 2-3 million truck drivers on the road today, they are the eyes and the ears of our nation's highway systems, targeted by traffickers at truck stops as potential purchasers. We continued our partnership and strengthened our impact with truckers against trafficking (tat). Strategic development: continued to idea exchange and collaborate on how to best reach the trucking industry. Persuasive media and campaigns: completed a 10' x 20' multi-media exhibit designed to engage the trucking community through industry events and trade shows. Updated design elements and poster campaigns for tat. Created a special edit to engage trucking industry ceos and executives, a 2 minute edit specifically for trade shows, and an audio version of our dvd for drivers to listen in their cabs. Engaging the industry: we engaged the industry through the three largest us trucking shows with a combined attendance of 140,000 trucking industry professionals. At each trucking show, we installed the exhibit, funded the outreach, recruited, trained and mobilized volunteers. These trucking shows included the great american trucking show in dallas, the mid america trucking show in louisville, ky, and we expanded our reach to include the great west truck show in las vegas. We partnered with tat to hold regional trainings connecting law enforcement and the trucking industry. Our training dvd was used by federal and state government agencies, national and regional news channels, as well as television. Over 10,000 of our training dvds have been distributed to trucking companies, drivers' schools, trucking associations, and travel plaza companies. We had close to 100,000 loads and over 12,000 plays from our web versions of the film. Investigations: we gathered information from drivers to share with law enforcement. Based on high concentration of reports from truck drivers, we began an ongoing undercover operation in an oil boom region of the united states. Summary: we saw tat acknowledged by unicef as one of the top 100 strategic organizations combating human trafficking in the world. We also saw tat recognized by the ashoka foundation and forbes. Currently over 400 truck drivers have called in to the national human trafficking hotline number with tips and human trafficking reports. Truck drivers are ranked 6th by polaris project for the number of calls coming in to the hotline from a specific demographic. According to polaris project, truck drivers are the fasted growing categorized demographic to make calls to the hotline. The total of our media package and film suite produced for tat is valued in excess of $100,000. Our exhibit design and production is valued at $10,000 and funding our participation at trucking shows in 2012 totaled $30,000.
Activity 3
Empower youth prevention program: we developed and piloted the initial content for a comprehensive curriculum that empowers at-risk youth and their educators to recognize and respond to exploitative scenarios. Our multi-media, interactive, and immersive curriculum engaged and empowered the faculty, staff and students of educational institutions. Elements of the program include class room interaction and assessment, an all school assembly, and a week-long empathy experience featuring film, photography and artifacts. Our pilot schools involved the most at-risk demographics in an urban environment. The program has proven to be impacting and has set up our phase two development, empowering educators to engage students in the issue through a classroom based curriculum. Our materials trained over 2000 students and educators in at-risk schools.
