Additional Explanations

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

We are a "no cost" food pantry, servicing the needs of clients in and around the community of byron center michigan. We also provide donated clothing and small household items to clients, again at no cost. Clients provide financial documentation to qualify for assistance or are referred by area churches or ministries. Emergency exceptions are made for walk-in clients on a case-by-case basis. We distributed 1,480,313 pounds of food worth 2,814,832 to 9,070 families in 2024 and an additional 1,444,589 pounds of food worth 2,845,840 to over 30 local agencies, as well as a ministry in kentucky. In addition, we also supply the ministry in kentucky with clothing, household items, newly purchased washers and dryers, baby items and other necessities. Children's clothing donations are sorted and shared with other partnering agencies as well. Our organization relies on local companies and individuals who believe in our mission and generously supply financial support, food, clothing, small household goods and the invaluable donation of time by our volunteers.

The organization is exempt from federal income taxes as a non-profit organization under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3). Accordingly, no provision for income tax is recorded in the financial statements. Management believes that they do not have any uncertain tax positions that are material to the financial statements.

CLIENTS PROVIDE FINANCIAL DOCUMENTATION TO QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE OR ARE REFERRED BY AREA CHURCHES OR MINISTRIES. EMERGENCY EXCEPTIONS ARE MADE FOR WALK-IN CLIENTS ON A CASE-BY-CASE BASIS. WE DISTRIBUTED 1,480,313 POUNDS OF FOOD WORTH 2,814,832 TO 9,070 FAMILIES IN 2024 AND AN ADDITIONAL 1,444,589 POUNDS OF FOOD WORTH 2,845,840 TO OVER 30 LOCAL AGENCIES, AS WELL AS A MINISTRY IN KENTUCKY. IN ADDITION, WE ALSO SUPPLY THE MINISTRY IN KENTUCKY WITH CLOTHING, HOUSEHOLD ITEMS, NEWLY PURCHASED WASHERS AND DRYERS, BABY ITEMS AND OTHER NECESSITIES. CHILDREN'S CLOTHING DONATIONS ARE SORTED AND SHARED WITH OTHER PARTNERING AGENCIES AS WELL. OUR ORGANIZATION RELIES ON LOCAL COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUALS WHO BELIEVE IN OUR MISSION AND GENEROUSLY SUPPLY FINANCIAL SUPPORT, FOOD, CLOTHING, SMALL HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND THE INVALUABLE DONATION OF TIME BY OUR VOLUNTEERS.
