Supplemental Narrative

Additional Explanations

FORM 990, PART XII, LINE 1:

Avenue scholars foundation uses the modified cash basis of accounting. Under this basis, certain support and revenue and the related assets are recognized when received rather than when earned and certain expenses are recognized when paid rather than when the obligation is incurred. That basis differs from accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america primarily because the organization has not recognized contributions receivable from donors and accounts payable to vendors and their related effects on net assets.

Part XII Line 2C

The process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Asf qualifies as a nonprofit organization under the provisions of section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code and, accordingly, no provision for income taxes has been made. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken by asf and recognize a tax liability if asf has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the internal revenue service. Asf is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress.
