Mission

As a community the issue of drug and alcohol use and abuse in kids, teenagers and families is an epidemic crisis. We know that early education, prevention and intervention can change families' futures forever. Our mission is to raise this awareness. Our angels at risk educational programs and services are designed to encourage communication on a parent to parent, kid to kid, teen to teen and parents to kid/teen level. Our wish is to believe that we can make a shift in the paradigm of mental health by adding prevention education under social and emotional learning in all schools, both public and private. Kids and their families from every platform would have a chance to have a happier, healthier life in this country, in our community, and in their homes.

Independent cpa prepares the forms and e-mails draft to the president and one board member for review and comment prior to finalizing. Any necessary changes are made prior to finalizing the forms. A copy of the final form 990 is made available to all board members when completed.

The board reviews all policies at the beginning of every year, and all board members and key administrators sign a conflict of interest form annually. In the event any director, officer or employee finds himself or herself in a position of conflict, he or she shall promptly disclose that fact to the board, as may be appropriate. A director who is directly or indirectly involved in a potential conflict of interest is not allowed to vote on any action of the board regarding the potential conflict and is not counted in determining the existence of a quorum at any meeting of the board where the potential conflict is considered.

The angels at risk board (at least two members) reviews the founder/president's salary and weighs a) the fact that the current founder/president functions both as an executive director (on-site) and lead angels at risk counselor/director of operations (off-site) as well as an integral part of the fundraising team, for a total of approximately 45 hours/week of service and is underpaid in comparison against b) current similar salaries in southern california, a primary survey of which is published annually by the center for nonprofit management entitles "compensation and benefits survey for southern and central california nonprofit organizations." the compensation committee then makes a recommendation as to whether the founder/president salary should stay the same, be reduced, or raised (elects to offer raise annually when monumental financial gains occur) so as to match the work effort and reasonable pay scales for the year. At the annual board meeting, the board as a whole then votes on the founders/president's salary.
