Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

The board of directors reviews and approves the federal form 990 prior to filing with the irs.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

Officers, directors, and trustees are required to submit a business code of conduct and annual conflict of interest form to disability:in, acknowledging their obligation to adhere to the standards as stated in the conflict of interest policy, and attesting that if they have a reasonable belief that a compliance violation has occurred, they will report it to disability:in's board executive committee. Any board member who is aware of a potential conflict of interest with respect to any meeting coming before the board may participate in the discussion after disclosure, but may not vote in connection with the matter.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15A

The cfo and coo reviewed comparability data from both guidestar and the urban institute to propose an adjusted salary for the organization's president & ceo. This information was presented to the chair of the board who then took the proposal to the executive committee of the board of directors which serves as the compensation committee. The compensation committee reviewed and discussed the proposal and comparability data before making their decision to approve. The approved salary adjustment was then included in the organization's budget for the following year. The last compensation review took place in the fall of 2022.

Form 990, Part III, Line 4A

Committees - disability:in committees are a great way to engage a larger group of colleagues with a disability:in partnership. It's also the best way to tap into the network of disability:in partner companies. Committees are a safe space for corporate peers to come together, share best practices, and provide professional development opportunities. Disability:in partners participated in the following committees in 2021: dei advisory committee, erg/brg leadership committee, global roundtable, national certification committee (ncc), accessibility committee, procurement council, talent acquisition committee, digital accessibility leadership committee, mental wellness committee, chief diversity officer forum, and executive sponsor forum. Webinars - the disability:in webinar series is a no-cost exclusive corporate member benefit for disability:in corporate partners and all of their employees. Each year, the webinar program covers almost every topic under the disability inclusion umbrella including but not limited to hiring, supplier diversity, disability etiquette, neurodiversity, erg/brg development and growth, accessibility practices, and mental wellness. During the 2021 webinar series, which offered at least two webinars per month, there was a total of 6,000 partner employee registrations. The webinar with the highest registration number was a webinar around the intersectionality of race and disability which had over 900 registrations. Joint investor statement on corporate disability inclusion - developed by disability:in and ignited by founding investors new york state comptroller thomas dinapoli and oregon state treasurer tobias read, this investor campaign urges companies they invest in to create inclusive workplaces by hiring and supporting people with disabilities. The campaign posits that companies that are disability-inclusive are thus better positioned to execute responsible governance, effective risk management, and optimal decision-making, as well as enhanced customer alignment, employee engagement, and transparency, as compared to those without. To date, 31 businesses and organizations with more than $2.8 trillion in assets under management have joined as signatories. Signatories of the joint statement encourage businesses to adopt a series of best practices to capitalize on the opportunities of disability inclusion. Ceos are 'in' for the disability equality index - corporate leaders are exceedingly aware of how diversity impacts culture, management and financial performance and are increasing their commitments to ensure people with disabilities are represented at all levels of a company. The disability:in ceo letter on disability inclusion is designed for ceos to take action to build inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplaces through their company's participation in the disability equality index. The dei is the only global tool for analyzing and measuring disability progress across the enterprise and gives companies a comprehensive assessment of their own disability inclusion and equality practices. The program is administered by disability:in and the american association of people with disabilities (aapd). Each company receives a score, on a scale of zero (0) to 100, with those earning 80 and above recognized as "best places to work for disability inclusion." a ceo can join 'in' by becoming a signatory of the disability:in ceo letter on disability inclusion. As of december 31, 2022, there were 150 ceo signatories. Research - disability:in's research initiatives support the organization's consulting programs and policy outreach by generating data-driven insight into workforce trends. Our research agenda is anchored in data collected annually from the disability equality index. Each july, disability:in produces a report about inclusion trends using the findings from the disability equality index. This is complimented by empirical research conducted throughout the year on emerging topics in the field, from workforc

IRS990/Desc0EDUCATION AND AWARENESS:SUPPLIER DIVERSITY - DISABILITY:IN'S SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM IS THE LEADING INTERNATIONAL CERTIFIER OF BUSINESSES OWNED AND CONTROLLED BY PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES, INCLUDING SERVICE-DISABLED VETERANS. THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM OFFERS RESOURCES, INCLUDING LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES ON DIVERSE SUPPLIER INCLUSION AND SPECIFIC INITIATIVES DESIGNED TO SUPPORT DISABILITY INCLUSION IN THE SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAMS OF ITS BUSINESS PARTNERS. WITH THE END GOAL OF ENHANCING ACCESS TO CONTRACT OPPORTUNITIES, DISABILITY:IN'S SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM PROVIDES A CONNECTING NETWORK BETWEEN DISABILITY-OWNED BUSINESS ENTERPRISES (DOBES) AND LARGE CORPORATIONS. ENGAGEMENT EVENTS ARE HELD THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND SPECIALIZED SUPPLY CHAIN/SUPPLIER DIVERSITY LEARNING SESSIONS AND NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES ARE OFFERED AT THE ANNUAL DISABILITY:IN CONFERENCE. CERTIFICATION AS A DOBE, V-DOBE OR SDV-DOBE THROUGH DISABILITY:IN PROVIDES A COMPETITIVE EDGE FOR BUSINESSES OWNED BY PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES BY OPENING NEW AVENUES FOR POTENTIAL BUSINESS AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES. AT THE END OF 2022, THE PROGRAM HAD 512 CERTIFIED DOBES ALONG WITH A GROWING, ACTIVE, AND CORPORATE-LED INTERNATIONAL CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE AND PROCUREMENT COUNCIL.DISABILITY EQUALITY INDEX (DEI) - THE DISABILITY EQUALITY INDEX (DEI) IS A COMPREHENSIVE BENCHMARKING TOOL THAT HELPS COMPANIES BUILD A ROADMAP OF MEASURABLE, TANGIBLE ACTIONS THAT THEY CAN TAKE TO ACHIEVE DISABILITY INCLUSION AND EQUALITY. EACH COMPANY RECEIVES A SCORE, ON A SCALE OF ZERO (0) TO 100, WITH THOSE EARNING 80 AND ABOVE RECOGNIZED AS A "BEST PLACE TO WORK FOR DISABILITY INCLUSION." THERE WERE 415 COMPANIES WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE 2022 DEI, WHICH WAS A 30% PARTICIPATION RATE UP FROM 2021.THE DEI IS A JOINT INITIATIVE OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (AAPD), THE NATION'S LARGEST DISABILITY RIGHTS ORGANIZATION, AND DISABILITY:IN, THE GLOBAL BUSINESS DISABILITY INCLUSION NETWORK, TO COLLECTIVELY ADVANCE THE INCLUSION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. THE ORGANIZATIONS ARE COMPLEMENTARY AND BRING UNIQUE STRENGTHS THAT MAKE THE PROJECT RELEVANT AND CREDIBLE TO CORPORATIONS AND THE DISABILITY COMMUNITY. THE TOOL WAS DEVELOPED BY THE DEI ADVISORY COMMITTEE, A DIVERSE GROUP OF BUSINESS LEADERS, POLICY EXPERTS, AND DISABILITY ADVOCATES. LEARN MORE AT: WWW.DISABILITYEQUALITYINDEX.ORG.GLOBAL DEI - THE GLOBAL DISABILITY EQUALITY INDEX PILOT WAS LAUNCHED IN RESPONSE TO DISABILITY:IN PARTNERS' DESIRE TO BENCHMARK INCLUSION EFFORTS AROUND THE WORLD, BOTH WITHIN THEIR OWN BRAND AS WELL AS OTHER INDUSTRIES. PHASE I OF THE PILOT STARTED IN 2021 AND INCLUDED 40 PARTICIPATING COMPANIES IN 30 COUNTRIES. THE QUESTIONS WERE NOT WEIGHTED OR SCORED, AS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE PILOT WAS TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF THE QUESTIONS AS WELL AS TO LEARN ABOUT EXISTING LEGAL FRAMEWORKS AROUND DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE ON A GLOBAL SCALE. PHASE II OF THE PILOT LAUNCHED IN 2022 WITH AN ONLINE PLATFORM, WHICH ALLOWED 58 COMPANIES TO SUBMIT RESPONSES FOR 63 COUNTRIES. THE INTEREST IN A GLOBAL BENCHMARK CONTINUES TO INCREASE, AS NON-US BASED COMPANIES SEEK WAYS TO STAY COMPETITIVE IN A TURBULENT MARKET FOR QUALIFIED WORKERS AS WELL AS CONSUMERS. IN FALL OF 2023, DISABILITY:IN PLANS TO DEBUT THE GLOBAL DEI AS A SCORED BENCHMARK IN A GROUP OF 5-6 COUNTRIES, WHICH WILL BE SELECTED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: 1) MOST SUBMITTED COUNTRIES THROUGH BOTH PHASES OF THE PILOT, AND 2) EQUITABLE REPRESENTATION ACROSS THE EMEA, LATAM AND APAC REGIONS. BUILDING AN ONLINE PLATFORM FOR THE PURPOSE OF MULTI-COUNTRY ANALYSIS WILL ALLOW DISABILITY:IN TO SCALE UP AND INVITE A MUCH LARGER NUMBER OF COMPANIES TO PARTICIPATE WHILE ENABLING OUR TEAM TO GRADUATE TO MUCH MORE SOPHISTICATED DATA DISCOVERY AND INTERPRETATION.INCLUSION WORKS PROGRAM - INCLUSION WORKS IS A DISABILITY:IN PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES UNLIMITED, CUSTOMIZED CONSULTING ON DISABILITY INCLUSION TO PARTICIPATING COMPANI
