The internal revenue service has determined that the cooperative, is exempt from federal income tax under code section 501(c)(4) and required to file an irs form 990. As a non- profit housing cooperative, the organization is deemed to be operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare. As such, contributions to the organization are not tax deductible. The code also expressly prohibits inurement of the net assets to the benefit of any certificate holder or individual. The corporation accounts for uncertainty in income taxes using a recognition threshold of more likely than not to be sustained upon examination by the appropriate taxing authorities. Measurement of the tax uncertainty occurs if the recognition threshold is met. Management determined that there were no tax uncertainties that met the recognition threshold in 2022 or 2021. Until 2020, when the cooperative was granted tax exempt status, the cooperative filed 1120 returns. The cooperative's federal and state filing are subject to review for three years after the date filed.

THE CORPORATION ACCOUNTS FOR UNCERTAINTY IN INCOME TAXES USING A RECOGNITION THRESHOLD OF MORE LIKELY THAN NOT TO BE SUSTAINED UPON EXAMINATION BY THE APPROPRIATE TAXING AUTHORITIES. MEASUREMENT OF THE TAX UNCERTAINTY OCCURS IF THE RECOGNITION THRESHOLD IS MET. MANAGEMENT DETERMINED THAT THERE WERE NO TAX UNCERTAINTIES THAT MET THE RECOGNITION THRESHOLD IN 2022 OR 2021.
