Mission and Program Overview
Mission
The learning center for the deaf's mission is to ensure that deaf and hard of hearing students achieve their full potential in an educational environment where language and communication are the keys to building competence, character and community.
Major Activities
- Activity 2
- Day program - the day program was approved effective february 1, 2006. The program provides a challenging academic program for deaf children who function at grade level and have little to no developmental delays. A total of 83 students were enrolled in the program between framingham, ma and randolph, ma campuses.
- Activity 3
- Intensive day program - the intensive day program was approved effective febuary 1, 2006 and combined the level two and level three programs that had existed on the campuses for many years. The program provides a challenging academic program for deaf children who often are diagnosed with varying degrees of learning disabilities, giftedness, autism, mental retardation, medical disabilities and varying cognitive and developmental delays. Students in this program often require a high ratio of staff to student, sometimes more than 1 to 1, depending upon their individual needs. A total of 86 students were enrolled in the program between the framingham and randolph, ma campuses.
