Mission and Program Overview

Mission

Incorporated on july 2, 1951, the allentown symphony association (asa) is the operating organization of the allentown symphony orchestra (aso)and miller symphony hall (msh). The mission of the asa is to provide a first-class orchestra and hall, quality performing arts, and cultural education in partnership with the community. Each year, the asa fulfills its mission first through high- quality programming and educational services that impact community members of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds and second through improvements and maintenance of miller symphony hall.

The conflict of interest policy contains provisions to limit participation and voting by a member who has a conflict on any vote where that influence would bias the voting member.

The allentown symphony association's process for hiring employees who have compensation in excess of 100,000 starts with a board of directors search committee. They will investigate sources such as the american symphony league, other orchestras, and other performing arts centers the high, medium and low range salary and benefits for the position. Education and work experience play an important role in determining how much compensation is offered. After intensive interview process, the candidate is vetted through our executive committee and presented to our board of directors. Any change in compensation must be proposed by a compensation committee comprised of independent directors and then approved by the executive committee before being presented to the board of directors.
