Mission

To provide high-quality clothing to those experiencing clothing insecurity in a respectful manner, aiding their stability and financial independence. By combining clothing with educational and coaching opportunities, we help individuals advance in their careers and continue on their path to financial independence. The program operates six locations across philadelphia, delaware, montgomery, and chester counties. For those unable to visit a site, we offer the wardrobe box, a free, personally styled clothing box mailed directly to their home, ensuring accessibility for all participants.

ONCE REFERRED, INDIVIDUALS RECEIVEATTIRE SUITABLE FOR THEIR SITUATION (JOB SEARCH, TRAINING OR EMPLOYMENT) AND THE ORGANIZATION EXTENDS IT SERVICES TO THOSE WHOARE WORKING OR LIVING ON A BUDGET BY PROVIDING LOW-COST OPTIONS TO EXPAND THEIR WARDROBES THROUGH SHOPPING AT THE WARDROBE BOUTIQUERESALE STORE. IN 2016, CAREER WARDROBE OPENED SERVICE SITES IN CHESTER AND BRISTOL, PA TO EXPAND ITS SERVICE AREA OUTSIDE PHILADELPHIA. THAT YEAR, THE AGENCY ALSO BECAME THE SOLEPROVIDER OF PA WORKWEAR SERVICES FOR THE PA DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES WHICH PROVIDES PROFESSIONAL ATTIRE FOR INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY FAMILIES (TANF) CASH ASSISTANCE. IN 2017, CAREER WARDROBE WORKED WITH 77 REFERRAL AGENCIES AND RECEIVED 4,676 DIRECT REFERRALS FROM THESE PARTNERS.THE ORGANIZATION OUTFITTED 3,682 PARTICIPANTS, OR 79% OF THOSE REFERRED. OF THOSE OUTFITTED, 550 (OR 15%) IDENTIFIED AS MEN WHICH REPRESENTS A 50% INCREASE IN OUR ABILITY TO REACH THIS NEW CONSTITUENCY. IN 2017,61% OF PARTICIPANTS REPORTED SECURING EMPLOYMENT AND 70% REPORTED SUCCESSFULLY TRANSITIONINGOFF OF PUBLIC WELFARE BENEFITS AFTER VISITING CAREER WARDROBE.

IN 2017, 1293INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATED IN 131 EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS OFFERED BYCAREER WARDROBE. THIS WAS A CONSISTENT WITH THE PREVIOUS YEARAND OUR MAIN PARTNERS FOR EDUCATIONAL SERVICES CONTINUED TOBE: THE ELECT PROGRAM OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIAWHICH PROVIDES CAREER SERVICES TO PREGNANT AND PARENTING TEENSWHO ARE ARE NOT PURSUING COLLEGE EDUCATION AFTER GRADUATION AND THE PHILADELPHIA-BASED CAREERLINK THAT PROVIDE JOB SEARCH SUPPORTTO UNEMPLOYED INDIVIDUALS (BOTH RECEIVING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE ANDGENERALLY UNEMPLOYED). INDIVIDUALS WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF CAREER WARDROBE'S EDUCATION PROGRAM REPORT INCREASED EDUCATION AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY RATES WITH 73% REPORTING THEY SUCCESSFULLY SECURED FULL TIME EMPLOYMENT AND 68% WERE NO LONGER RECEIVING GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE ONCE EMPLOYED.
