FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The mission of the lancaster county council of churches is to unite communities of faith as ecumenical partners. Putting our faith into action, we work together for justice, peace, healing, and reconciliation for the whole community by ministering to human needs and addressing community and societal issues.

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Each year, hundreds of volunteers work with us to further our mission. They provide services which include but are not limited to: sorting donations, stocking shelves, filling and distributing orders in the food bank and the clothing bank, client intake, preparing and serving community meals, and serving in the winter shelter. Volunteers also serve as board and committee members.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Program for clients in partnership with a local bank to allow individuals to begin rebuilding their credit. Last year, 16 families received a reliable vehicle. Reliable transportation is not only convenient but necessary when it comes to getting a job and having mobility choices. Wheels to work also has a bicycle program which provided 20 households with a bicycle in good repair with safety accessories for clients' use in commuting to their jobs. The women's winter shelter proves emergency shelter for women and children during the coldest months of the year. 2015 averaged 20 guest per night. The shelter hosted 20 for a total of 120 nights. Lccc continues to develop new programs in response to community needs and coordinate with other organizations to provide services. The hygiene bank, established in 2013, provides household and personal hygiene items to individuals who cannot purchase particular items with their food stamps. The hygiene bank served 777 people in 2015. The individuals served by lccc are the unemployed, underemployed, refugees, senior citizens, disabled, victims of natural disasters, hungry, homeless, facing eviction or shutoff of utilities, in need of clothing, dealing with substance addiction, or unable to afford medication. Our services are available to all residents of lancaster county, with additional qualifications necessary for some programs. Lccc appreciates the contributions of nearly 425 volunteers in 2015 in addition to the one-time volunteers who contribute their time to their community.
