TOGETHER, THESE PROGRAMS REPRESENT THE ORGANIZATION'S STRATEGIC COMMITMENT TO DELIVERING A UNIFIED CONTINUUM OF CARE, CENTERED AROUND THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF CHILDREN AND THE COMMUNITIES IN WHICH SERVICES ARE OFFERED. EDUCATION FOUNDED IN 1852 AS A SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN WITH LEARNING DISABILITIES, ELWYN OPERATES THE DAVIDSON SCHOOL, THE OLDEST AND LARGEST APPROVED PRIVATE SCHOOL (APS) IN PENNSYLVANIA. THIS PROGRAM SERVES UP TO 400 STUDENTS FROM NEIGHBORING SCHOOL DISTRICTS, OFFERING A RICH, SUPPORTIVE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT TAILORED TO CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH A BROAD RANGE OF SPECIAL NEEDS. THESE INCLUDE INTELLECTUAL AND PHYSICAL DISABILITIES, SENSORY IMPAIRMENTS, SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL CHALLENGES, COMMUNICATION DISORDERS, AND MEDICALLY FRAGILE CONDITIONS. EARLY LEARNING SERVICES SINCE 1998, ELWYN HAS SERVED AS THE STATE-CONTRACTED PROVIDER FOR EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES IN THE PHILADELPHIA SCHOOL DISTRICT AND, SINCE 2002, FOR THE CHESTER UPLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT. AS THE ONLY PRIVATE CONTRACTOR OF ITS KIND IN PENNSYLVANIA, ELWYN ADMINISTERS STATE AND FEDERAL FUNDS TO IDENTIFY AND SUPPORT YOUNG CHILDREN, AGES 3 TO SCHOOL AGE, WITH SPECIAL NEEDS. CHILDREN SUSPECTED OF DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS ARE REFERRED TO ELWYN, WHERE AN INTERDISCIPLINARY TEAM CONDUCTS EVALUATIONS. THOSE MEETING ELIGIBILITY (E.G., A 25% DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY AND NEED FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION) RECEIVE AN INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION PLAN (IEP). SERVICES MAY INCLUDE: - PRESCHOOL EDUCATION - PHYSICAL, OCCUPATIONAL, AND SPEECH THERAPY - BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT - SPECIALIZED INTERVENTIONS FOR AUTISM, VISION, AND HEARING IMPAIRMENTS - AUDIOLOGY AND ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY IEPS ARE TAILORED TO EACH CHILD'S STRENGTHS AND CHALLENGES, WITH SERVICES DELIVERED IN INCLUSIVE SETTINGS WHENEVER POSSIBLE. SUPPORTS AIM TO ENABLE MEANINGFUL PROGRESS AND INDEPENDENCE. ELWYN'S EARLY LEARNING SERVICES SUPPORT OVER 11,000 CHILDREN ANNUALLY IN PHILADELPHIA AND OVER 300 CHILDREN IN CHESTER UPLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT.
