THE ENDOWMENT FUND WAS CREATED AS A WAY TO ENSURE FUTURE FUNDING TO DEVELOP NEW CURRICULUM INITIATIVES AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF 21ST CENTURY LEARNERS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2014, GRANTS AWARDED TOTALED $164,046. FUNDED GRANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:A TRUE 21ST CENTURY LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER - $35,500UPDATED THE PHYSICAL SPACE OF THE LCJSMS LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER TO REFLECT A "LEARNING COMMONS" FOR 21ST CENTURY LEARNING. THIS GRANT PROVIDED THE RESOURCES TO TRANSFORM THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER WITH FURNITURE AND MEDIA CONSOLES ALLOWING STUDENTS TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY IN BOTH LARGE AND SMALL GROUPS. THIS OPEN AND FLEXIBLE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT WILL FACILITATE INSTRUCTION THAT INCORPORATES PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING, DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION, AND COLLABORATIVE LEARNING.1-1 IPAD GRADE LEVEL PILOT - $60,000AN IPAD IS PURCHASED FOR EVERY STUDENT ENTERING THE 6TH GRADE TO USE BOTH AT SCHOOL AND AT HOME AS A RESOURCE FOR LEARNING.
