THE ENDOWMENT FUND WAS CREATED AS A WAY TO ENSURE FUTURE FUNDING TO DEVELOP NEW CURRICULUM INITIATIVES AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO MEET THE NEEDS OF 21ST CENTURY LEARNERS. DURING THE FISCAL YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2015, GRANTS AWARDED TOTALED $226,109. FUNDED GRANT ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:CHROMEBOOK PROJECT AT SHS - $130,474UP TO THREE YEAR GRANT TO FURNISH CHROMEBOOKS TO ENTIRE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT BODY. A 1:1 CHROMEBOOK INITIATIVE ALLOWS STUDENTS TO HAVE CONSTANT AND CONSISTENT ACCESS TO TECHONOLOGY WHICH FACILITATES COLLABORATION WITH PEERS AT SCHOOL AND FROM HOME. "THIN DEVICE" ACCESS TO CLOUD COMPUTING IS CONSIDERED THE CURRENT MODEL IN EDUCATION AND BUSINESS COMPUTING. CONSISTENT ACCESS TO PERSONAL TECHNOLOGY EXPECTED TO TRANSFORM CLASSROOM AND EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.COLLABORATIVE CLASSROOMS, SOCIAL STUDIES - $36,085PURCHASE OF NODE CHAIRS FOR SEVEN SOCIAL STUDIES CLASSROOMS. THIS PROJECT BUILDS UPON THE COLLABORATIVE CLASSROOM PROJECT IMPLEMENTED IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LANGUAGE ARTS CLASSROOMS IN 2012. NODE CHAIRS IN LANGUAGE ARTS HAVE HAD A MEANINGFUL IMPACT ON INSTRUCTION, MAKING STUDENT TRANSITIONS MUCH QUICKER AND FACILITATING COLLABORATIVE GROUPINGS THAT ENABLE THE BUILDING OF STUDENTS COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND CRITICAL THINKING. INSTRUCTION IN SOCIAL STUDIES ALSO DEMANDS COLLABORATION, MULTIPLE CONFIGURATION TRANSITIONS, AND FLEXIBLE SPACES. NODE CHAIRS FOR THE SOCIAL STUDIES CLASSROOMS IS THE NEXT LOGICAL STEP IN TRANSFORMING THE MIDDLE SCHOOL.ENVISION MATH PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - $40,000AFTER AN EXTENSIVE PILOT, THE DISTRICT HAS ADOPTED ENVISION MATH, PUBLISHED BY PEARSON, AS THE RESOURCE THAT WILL BE USED IN GRADES KINDERGARTEN -5 TO SUPPORT THE DISTRICT'S MATHEMATICAS CURRICULUM. ENVISION IS CLOSELY ALIGNED TO CCSS. THE GRANT WILL SUPPORT SUPPLEMENTAL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO USE THE NEW ENVISION RESOURCES. THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WILL BE BASED ON THE TEACHERS COLLEGE MODEL USED FOR READING AND WRITING. CONSULTANTS FROM PEARSON LEARNING WILL BE CONTRACTED TO PROVIDE JOB-EMBEDDED COACHING BY GRADE LEVEL TO INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF IN GRADES K-5.PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR LEADERSHIP GROUP - $15,00030-40 TEACHERS WILL PARTICIPATE IN A LEADERSHIP TRAINING PROGRAM TO PROMOTE GROWTH IN THEIR INTERNAL CAPACITY, ABILITY TO RECEIVE AND DELIVER FEEDBACK, COLLABORATE EFFECTIVELY IN GROUPS, AND BUILD KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS.
