The Napa County Bicycle Coalition works to make riding a bicycle anywhere in Napa County safe, convenient, and accessible for riders of all ages and abilities.Since 2008, we have worked tirelessly with bicycle advocates, parents, students, elected officials, public agencies, local businesses, and other members of our community to support programs that educate students and adults, advocate for more and better bicycle facilities, and encourage bicycle riding.
The Organization's primary purpose is to improve the health and quality of life of residents of Napa County by promoting bicycling for transportation and recreation and promoting more and safer bicycle trips through education, community service and other charitable activities.

| Engineering:This was an incredibly active year for the Coalition in our policy and advocacy efforts. Major accomplishments include negation with the County of Napa around amendments to the Special Events Ordinance, following proposals that threatened to drastically curtail the number and size of cycling events in the Napa Valley. We continue to believe that these recreational cycling events, including long-standing events like the Tour of Napa Valley and Cycle For Sight, provide tremendous benefit to the local community, our economy, and serve as an example of how fun and engaging cycling can be for riders of all ages. We took the uncommon step of formally endorsing and financially supporting Measure Z, a proposed sales tax measure in Napa County which promised to fund the acquisition of new park and open space lands, and expand the network of trails open to bicycle riders throughout the Napa Valley. And we played an integral role in providing input and guidance for road projects in each of our communities, including the construction of new Green Lanes in St. Helena, roundabout proposals in the City of Napa, and a corridor improvement project along Highway 29 south of St. Helena. | $26,105 | - |
| Education & Outreach:Napa County Bicycle Coalition has continued our work to provide high quality bike safety education to our community, through targeted programs and events. This year, we partnered with Visit Napa Valley to provide a workshop for hospitality and lodging industry representatives to learn more about how to safely provide loaner bicycles to hotel guests as an amenity. We provided free Bicycle Rodeos at local elementary schools around the County, and worked with the City of Calistoga to host their first-ever Safety Day with a bike skills course and helmet give-away, serving over 180 children from that community. Our successful Family Biking Workshop continued in American Canyon, St. Helena and Calistoga, providing 2-hour bike safety skills to nearly 80 low income Spanish speaking children and their parents. At the end of each program, attendees were able to bring home a new bicycle and helmet - for free. Lastly, we deepened our collaboration with the Napa County Office of Education Safe Routes to Schools program, allowing elementary-school youth to go on chaperoned off-campus rides as the culmination of their week-long bike and pedestrian safety course. | $21,799 | - |
| Encouragement:Napa County Bicycle Coalition is firmly committed to encouraging our community members and visitors to use bicycles for everyday transportation, benefiting their own health and wellbeing, as well as reducing their impact on the environment and air quality. Our two largest events - Napa BikeFest and Bike to Work Day - occur in May of each year, and are aimed at engaging and exciting riders of all ages and abilities to get out on two wheels. This years Bike to Work Day resulted in thousands of new riders, and saw a ridership increase of 20-30% at many of our energizer station locations in the valley. Throughout the year, we provided free to user valet bike parking at community events and festivals, including Earth Day, the City of Napa's 4th of July activities, and Blue Brews & BBQ. We also continue to serve on the Board of the Napa Valley Vine Trail, advising that organization on best practices as they move forward with a planned 47-mile long bike and pedestrian path from Vallejo to American Canyon. We have also expanded our sup-port of youth and mountain bike ridership, supporting the formation of the Redwood Empire Mountain Bike Alliance (REMBA) and serving as fiscal sponsors of the newly formed Saint Helena Thunderbirds MTB team. The Thunderbirds promise to bring the sport of mountain biking to the next generation of Saint Helena and up valley high school aged youth. | $19,377 | - |
