Mission

Creating opportunities for those seeking recovery.foundation for recovery's vision is that addiction is recognized as a treatable disease and that individual and family recovery is seen as an acceptable and sought after means for achieving a balanced and healthy life. The foundation for recovery will help prepare and organize current and future educators, health care professionals, policy makers, and the general public to make this vision a reality. The foundation for recovery will promote and highlight the positive experiences of people in long-term recovery and focus on programs and initiatives on facilitating the benefits of recovery from addiction for the indiviuals, their families, friends, employers, and the community.

To promote the positive impact of recovery from addiction, behavioral health and co-occurring disorders in our communities and to enhance the lives of individuals and families affected by the disease of addiction.

ADDITIONALLY, TO PREPARE NEVADANS TO SERVE IN THE PRSS ROLE, FFR OFFERS PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST TRAINING PROGRAM FOR THOSE WITH LIVED EXPERIENCE WHO WANT TO MENTOR OTHERS THAT ARE SEEKING LONG-TERM RECOVERY FROM SUBSTANCE USE AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH DISORDERS. FFR ALSO OFFERS CONTINUING EDUCATION CLASSES NEEDED TO RENEW CERTIFICATION WITH NV CERTIFICATION BOARD AFTER TWO YEARS. THE PEER RECOVERY COMMUNITY CENTERS ARE WELCOMING ENVIRONMENTS WHERE PATRONS MAY ACCESS DIRECT PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT, MUTUAL-AID MEETINGS AND GROUP SUPPORT, TRAINING AND EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, AND SOBER-SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS. THE PEER CENTERS ALSO OFFERS A RANGE OF OTHER AMENITIES COMPUTER LAB AND OTHER SUPPORT SERVICES TO HELP INDIVIDUALS NAVIGATE THEIR RECOVERY JOURNEY SUCH AS COMPUTERS, TRAINING ROOMS AND MEETING SPACES, RECOVERY BOOKS AND LITERATURE, RECYCLED CLOTHING AND BASIC HYGIENE SUPPLIES, BUS PASSES AND OTHER TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, ETC.AS PART OF OUR PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAM, FOUNDATION FOR RECOVERY RECEIVED FUNDING FROM DIGNITY HEALTH, TO ESTABLISH A MOBILE TEAM OF PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALISTS TO RESPOND TO DIGNITY HEALTH NEIGHBORHOOD HOSPITALS IN THE LAS VEGAS AREA WHEN A PATIENT PRESENTS WITH SYMPTOMS OF SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER OR ACUTE TOXICITY FROM OPIOIDS OR OTHER SUBSTANCES. THE MOBILE TEAM RESPONDS 24/7 TO EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT CALLS TO PROVIDE RECOVERY SUPPORT AND LINKAGES TO CARE AND COMMUNITY RESOURCES.IN 2019 FOUNDATION FOR RECOVERY RECEIVED ADDITIONAL SAMHSA FUNDING TO SUPPORT OUR PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT PROGRAM THROUGH A NEW INITIATIVE CALLED THE BUILDING COMMUNITIES OF RECOVERY (BCOR) PROJECT WITH THE GOAL OF ESTABLISHING RECOVERY SUPPORT SERVICES IN RURAL AND FRONTIER COMMUNITIES. THE DIRECTORY IS ALSO AVAILABLE ONLINE. - WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS FOR ADDICTION PROFESSIONALS, RESEARCHERS, EDUCATORS, STUDENTS AND OTHERS INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY TO DISSEMINATE THE LATEST INFORMATION ON SUBSTANCE ABUSE RESEARCH, TREATMENT AND RECOVERY AND SUICIDE PREVENTION SUCH AS SAFETALK (TO CREATE SUICIDE-ALERT HELP) AND MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID. BECAUSE SUICIDE IS ALL TOO OFTEN AN OUTCOME OF A MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS OR AN ADDICTION, ASIST AND SAFETALK TRAININGS FURTHER PREPARE PROFESSIONALS AND THE COMMUNITY FOR APPROPRIATE RESPONSE AND SUPPORT. - OTHER TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS ARE DEVELOPED AND OFFERED AS COMMUNITY NEEDS ARE ASSESSED. ONE EXAMPLE IS OFFERING A FOUNDATION FOR RECOVERY MAY DEVELOP THE TRAINING INDEPENDENTLY OR COLLABORATIVELY WITH OTHER COMMUNITY PARTNERS. EXAMPLES OF THESE TYPES OF TRAINING AND WORKSHOPS ARE INTERFAITH WORKSHOPS, EXPLORING ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH IN FAITH BASED ORGANIZATIONS AND PROVIDING TOOLS AND RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT FAITH CULTURES. NALOXONE TRAINING, TEACHING THE COMMUNITY ADMINISTRATION OF ANTI-OVERDOSE MEDICATION AS A LIFE SAVING MEASURE FOR THOSE WITH OPIOID USE DISORDER. EDUCATIONAL FORUMS FOCUSED ON IMPLICATIONS OF LEGALIZING MARIJUANA, UNDERSTANDING THE GOOD SAMARITAN ACT, AND MANY OTHER TOPICS AS THEY BECOME THE FOCUS OF THE CURRENT DRUG/OVERDOSE EPIDEMIC. - COMMUNITY EVENTS TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE IMPORTANCE OF RECOVERY SUCH AS THE ANNUAL SOUTHERN NEVADA RALLY FOR RECOVERY, WHICH HAD OVER 500 ATTENDEES IN 2015.
