Community assistance program: bike utah's community assistance program (cap) was fully operational in 2024 and aimed to provide holistic support for communities in becoming more bicycle-friendly. We lend our staff expertise and resources to identify and address barriers to cycling, turn an idea into reality, and make communities even better places to ride. Our community engagement, education, and planning teams partner with community groups, schools, nonprofit organizations, tribes, government agencies, and more. This partnership assists local communities in addressing barriers to cycling and creating a more bike-friendly environment by providing a broad range of services and skills such as active transportation planning assistance, safe routes to school advisory, safe cycling training, bike maintenance events, and community workshops. Cap education: in 2024, the cap education program continued to provide onsite bike safety education, bike safety assemblies, bike fix events, and support for bike buses at elementary schools and summer camps. By providing safety education for both riders and drivers, repair events, and opportunities to ride, bike utah sought to reduce multiple barriers to safe cycling for students across the state. In 2024, 596 students participated in bike safety training, 4646 attended bike safety assemblies, and 88 students participated in bike buses. An additional 14,000 driver's education students took bike utah's bike-friendly driving module in utah's online driver's education course. Program staff helped repair 236 bicycles and donated ~150 helmets for youth. Additionally, bike utah provided traffic safety analyses for 3 elementary schools to facilitate identifying safer routes to school for students. Cap community engagement: bike utah was actively involved in various community engagement programs aimed at increasing accessibility, education, and infrastructure for cyclists across the state. One of our notable collaborations was with free bikes for kids, where we helped refurbish and distribute bicycles to elementary school students, ensuring that more children had access to active transportation and outdoor recreation. During three community events we partnered with 14 volunteers and refurbished 40 bicycles that were given away. Additionally, bike utah supported wheelie spoked, an organization focused on building inclusive cycling communities, by helping them develop and expand their programs to reach more riders. To support cyclists in need, bike utah also organized fix-it days at youth centers and resource centers for the unsheltered, providing maintenance and repair services to keep bikes in good working condition. We fixed 81 bikes and 2 walkers at community resource centers to help keep these populations rolling. Beyond access to bikes, bike utah prioritized education and skill-building through various courses and hands-on initiatives. We offered an e-bike commuter course, equipping riders with the knowledge to safely and efficiently integrate electric bikes into their daily transportation. 12 salt lake city residents completed the course. Our winter commuting course, in partnership with unplugged wellness, taught 12 cyclists how to navigate cold-weather riding conditions, ensuring year-round bike use. Additionally, bike utah supported an initiative to improve bike parking, providing technical assistance to businesses and organizations that wanted to install bike racks, helping to expand secure and accessible bike parking across the state. Bike utah assisted the installation of 11 bike racks in 2024. Through these diverse programs, bike utah fostered a more connected and cycling-friendly community across utah. Cap planning: bike utah partners with local and regional governments on dozens of active transportation projects throughout the state. We frequently serve as stakeholders on planning projects, provide technical support to local active transportation committees, and lead development of several

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0BIKE UTAH IS THE STATEWIDE, NONPROFIT BICYCLE ADVOCACY AND EDUCATION ORGANIZATION. OUR MISSION IS TO MAKE UTAH A BETTER PLACE TO RIDE, AND WE ENVISION A UTAH WHERE COMPLETE ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS AND THRIVING CYCLING CULTURE CONTRIBUTE TO LIVABLE, CONNECTED, HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, ALLOWING EVERYONE TO RIDE REGARDLESS OF AGE, ABILITY, RACE, OR INCOME. IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM: BIKE UTAH'S COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (CAP) WAS FULLY OPERATIONAL IN 2024 AND AIMED TO PROVIDE HOLISTIC SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITIES IN BECOMING MORE BICYCLE-FRIENDLY.
