Determining staff compensation, bike utah utilizes data from a variety of sources, including the utah nonprofits association who compile a bi-annual report on nonprofit salaries and benefits. This report incorporates statewide and national data for a variety positions across the nonprofit sector while accounting for geographical area, budget size, and numerous other variables. Executive director compensation is reviewed and approved by the bike utah board of directors at the completion of a thorough, annual 360-degree performance evaluations accounting for feedback from other organizational staff, the board of directors, and organizational partners. The outcome of the compensation review and approval are recorded in the board of directors meeting minutes. Compensation for other bike utah staff members follow a similar process, however the process is under the supervision of the executive director and is recorded on the staff member's annual review form.

1,000 miles campaign: in 2022 we have tracked and assisted in the completion of 931 miles by providing strategic planning, technical assistance, and connections to financial resources, so communities can begin or continue developing bicycling in their area. These miles have created on-street bike facilities that provide a high level of comfort for all users, multi-use pathways that serve as transportation and recreation routes for people of all ages and abilities, mountain bike trails for a range of skill levels, and neighborhood bicycle routes so individuals, families, and children can get to local destinations, including work, school, parks, church, and businesses. The 1,000 miles campaign began producing active transportation plans for bluff, parowan and the wasatch front regional council, with an emphasis on high comfort and safety bicycle infrastructure. Active transportation plans are guiding documents adopted by different governments where it will be built, and how it will be built. The 1,000 miles campaign has worked with over 20 local governments in 2022. Bicycle education and safety training program: during 2022 the youth best program continued to provide onsite bike safety education, primarily to students in 4th-6th grades. In 2022, 3,598 students participated in the best program. The best program consists of four hours of bicycle education and safety training. It has both classroom style components and the opportunity for on-bike practice. During 2022 participants demonstrated a 66% improvement in scores on a bicycle safety quiz from before the program to after. Additionally, 98% of participating classes participated in a bike ride on the roads around their school's neighborhood. Utah bike summit: the utah bike summit is the state bicycle conference, open to bicycle enthusiasts and advocates, elected officials, bike shops, manufacturers, infrastructure engineers, planners, transportation professionals, health officials, tourism professionals, and the general public. This event features speakers, training sessions, networking opportunities, and discussions focusing on how to make utah a better place to ride. For the 12th annual bike summit, 244 attendees participated in a three-day virtual conference with three hours of speakers, panels, discussions and networking each day, plus an additional half-day in-person outdoor experience. The 2021 utah bike summit included discussions and workshops on topics including equity (all-ability bikeways), advocacy (introduction to the bike utah advocacy toolkit), education (youth career session), and infrastructure (how data can create more equitable infrastructure). Educational bicycle tours: bike utah is now in its eighth year of producing the mobile active transportation tours (matts). Each of the matts educates planners, engineers, elected officials, advocates, and the general public on how they can plan, build, fund, and maintain bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure to encourage more widespread, safer engagement in active transportation. We ran a matt in davis, california that included 20 policy makers. We are currently planning a potential international matt to inform active transportation investments over the coming decade as unprecedented investments have been made at the state level related to active transportation. Mid week mountain bike series: the mid week mtb series aims to provide a consistently fun, challenging mountain bike racing experience for riders of all ages and ability levels at venues throughout the salt lake valley, wasatch front, and wasatch back. In 2022, the mid week mtb series hosted 14 races; 7 cross-country races, 5 mini enduro races, and 2 women's mini enduro races. Over 1,100 unique riders participated in the race series, with an average of 230 racers at each event.
