Mission

Children & Youth Services, Community Outreach in India. The Ashraya Initiative for Children is dedicated to improving the lives and shaping the futures of vulnerable children in Pune, India by advancing educational opportunities, nurturing holistic development and building healthy, empowered communities. The organization runs various programs to the benefit of slum and street children and their families in Pune, India.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
The Ashraya Initiative for Children (AIC) Education Outreach Program provides daily material, emotional and, primarily, educational support to young slum and street children ages 3 to 17 from our vicinity, who show the most pressing needs. They are selected on a case-by-case basis through fieldwork. The children receive financial support for school fees, as well as tutoring at our Education Outreach Center. In addition, we provide meals, medical aid, clothing, shoes and transportation to and from schools, counseling and other services to the children and their families.$0$66,341

ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt0We are an entirely volunteer-run entity in the US, with most of our resources concentrated in India (where the children and families we serve are located). In India, we operate alongside a partner organization, which jointly with our accountant audits our financials, and ensures full compliance with Indian rules and regulations. Due to a change in leadership and resulting change of responsibilities within our organization in India, we were unable to collect audited statements for our operations in India on time. Please accept our sincere apologies for this failure to adhere to our US tax deadlines - we have made changes within our organization to prevent this situation from happening in the future.
