“We welcome, accompany and partner with latino immigrants in building a safe and sustainable life.”

“Transportation & mercy ministry services: assisted with transportation and translation needs of latino immigrants and accompanied them to legal, dental and medical visits. We also have a compassion fund to assist with groceries, legal and medical expenses. This served about 60 - 70 people per month. Open arms also assists local companies that employ latinos. We serve as a liaison between the company leadership and the hispanic employees, helping them with various needs.”

“Tutoring & school services for latino children: open arms has a strong relationship with local school systems, and provides assistance to latino parents with enrolling their children in school and help translating for school meetings. Our tutoring program has greatly expanded this past year. Approximately 30 children receive 1 on 1 tutoring for around 2 hours a week with a volunteer tutor. During the summer open arms runs a once a week camp for these children as well.”

“Other program services: open arms is working in partnership with various organizations to help the latino community in a number of different areas. We are pleased to see that the chief of police and mayor of a local city have developed an open-door policy helping us develope a good working relationship with city officials where a many of these latinos are living. In addition, we are working with other non-profits like mcc connections and the immigrant worker project.”

“Discipleship & sunday morning services at various local congregations: prepared sunday religious services and educational materials to instruct anglo communities about the hardship of latino in immigration, labor and other topics as well as the importance of their labor in the food chain of this country. In addition, to highlight the opportunities for latino immigrants in a multi-cultural church context. In this category it is difficult to estimate numbers of attendees because church sizes vary significantly.”
