Boston youth environmental network (byen) - byen mobilizes environmental agencies in collaboration with the boston public schools in order to advance career opportunities for high school students and to enhance environmental education for k-8 students in the boston public schools. Byen pilots system-building efforts to activate learning in hands-on ways and inform policy development with a variety of public and private partners. Byen's efforts are the foundation for the agency's work to advance stem (science, technology, engineering, and math) education in boston.
Activity 3
School-community partnerships - the agency is collaborating with the boston public schools and local and national foundations to develop a model of student-centered, results-focused, standards-aligned school-community partnerships. Drawing on lessons from the boston summer learning project and the partners for student success initiative, initially funded by the wallace foundation, this initiative is implementing and documenting partnership management and measurement strategies in three boston turnaround schools. This program now includes seven schools and their community partners.
