Balboa Park Sustainability:The Partnership's Balboa Park Sustainability Program's (the Sustainability Program") purpose is to educate, measure, promote and implement sustainability best practices in Balboa Park as well as strategically plan, coordinate and complete deferred maintenance initiatives. Through collaboration and ongoing communication, the Sustainability Program has developed a shared vision for "greening" Balboa Park. It continues to advance solutions that will help protect Balboa Park resources and strengthen economic viability, while enhancing visitor experience and enjoyment. The Sustainability Program is a collaborative effort between the Balboa Park Cultural Partnership, the City of San Diego, and San Diego Gas & Electric. This collaboration is supported by an alliance of Partnership members, Park stakeholders, and Sustainability experts.

Activity 3

Parkwide Membership:With support from The James Irvine Foundation, the Partnership has been developing an implementation plan for a Balboa Park Pass - a new product that will grant passholders one year of unlimited general admission to 17 participating museums and cultural institutions. This is an important project because, for many years, community members have expressed interest in a product that would provide annual admission to arts, science, and culture institutions in Balboa Park for one cost. This also offers a new revenue stream for the Park institutions and the Partnership.As part of the Partnership's efforts to build a better Balboa Park Experience, our goal for the Pass is to broaden access to the Park, making the visitor experience a smoother, more inter-connected journey through our many diverse institutions. For example, families will face fewer barriers in terms of cost and time restrictions when they visit with a Park Pass that gives them unlimited access. The Pass also provides a new marketing opportunity and a chance to build a sense of ownership and pride in the Park among our visitors. Additionally, the Pass will provide more opportunities for the institutions to collaborate programmatically.
