IRS990/Desc0READ Ministries, Inc.In 2014 READ Ministries sponsored and conducted various Christian literature projects in Ukraine, Belarus and Central Asia involving the training of evangelical church workers and the distribution of Christian literature and media resources. Following is a summary of our programs in 2014:Literature Specialist Development and Book Distribution Program In 2014 READ continued to sponsor and support our Literature Specialist Development Programs in Ukraine and Belarus. These training programs take place over a two year period and are held at Regional Bible Colleges throughout the country. In 2014 our programs included an expanded emphasis on the counseling component in the curriculum in order to equip graduates to meet growing stress-related needs during this troubled time in Ukraine. In the spring of 2014, READ was proud to witness the graduation of 45 students in our Literature Specialist Programs in Kremenchug, Ukraine and Minsk, Belarus. Our excitement grew as we watched two new programs start in the fall of 2014 in Rivne and Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine hosting an additional 20 students. In 2014 READ made a three-year commitment to equip and train 12 Ukrainians in a new cross-cultural missions training center at the Kremenchug Regional Bible College, As part of the training, students will conduct supervised international practicums beyond the border of Ukraine.Since 2000, 417 students have graduated from our Literature Specialist Development program and their churches have each received a 300 volume Christian library. To date, over 125,000 Christian books given by READ Ministries are circulating throughout the churches in Ukraine, Belarus and other parts of the former Soviet Union! In this collection of books there are books for children, youth and adults. There are books for believers and non-believers. These libraries are helping believers and seekers find answers to their spiritual and practical questions. Seeking advice and suggestions from the Literature Specialist in solving a family, spiritual or personal problem is often the focus of the inquiry. In reality, the Literature Specialist often functions as a pastor especially to women. The Literature Specialist is essential for the successful operation and effectiveness of a church and its library.Church Leaders Training and Resourcing ProjectsA major emphasis for READ in 2014 was our Church Leaders Training and Resourcing Projects. In partnership with our Ukrainian friends, READ was able to provide computers and digital libraries to 55 church leaders being trained for ministry in countries of Central Asia. These programs are providing church leaders a way to continue their theological education and communicate Gods love to those who are starved for His Word. Dialogue and planning began on a new three year project supporting students and church leaders through the distribution of printed and digital materials in new areas of Central Asia. In addition, READ was able to help fund a Ukrainian language translation of Kairos, a training curriculum used to prepare missionaries for cross-cultural ministries.In June of 2014, READ was pleased to provide the book Preach the Word, a collection of sermons in Russian, to each of the 700 pastors attending the Ukrainian Baptist Union Congress.To date, READ has been blessed to assist in the theological education and ministry efforts of over 1485 church leaders in Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia and countries of Central Asia.Church Based Social Outreach Literature ProjectsPrison Outreach - During 2014 READ enthusiastically supplied resources to church based social prison ministries in Kharkov and Poltava, Ukraine. These prison ministries are involved in serving those in jails, prisons and rehabilitation centers. They are bringing hope to the hopeless. Ministering to people who find themselves in poverty and unfortunate circumstances in this part of the world is one way READ is fulfilling Gods command to love our neighbors as ourse
