Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Each year, the 990 is provided to APFC's board of Trustees via email. At the subsequent board meeting, the trustees and senior staff will reiew it and discuss any issues or questions that arise.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

We have a conflict of interest policy however, the need has never arisen to enforce it.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

Compensation determination for the co-directors is based on research of other executive directors at New Jersey non-profits (taken from the 2016 990's), and by research conducted from various websites including Salary.com. APFC's Co-Directors compensation is well within the range of similar posts in NJ. This process was last undertaken in 2008; co-directors hourly rate has remained steady since that time due to stagnation in revenue relating to the 2008 national financial crisis. The board will resume review of executive salaries in the coming years.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

The organization is registered in the state of New Jersey. APFC's governing document, financial statements and conflict of interest policies are made available to the public upon request.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0PREP is a program for police officers; it 's comprised of two components: (1) Training and (2) Outreach. The training component is sponsored by VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) grant program funded through the NJ Office of the Attorney, Dept of Law and Public Safety. We educated 249 police officers from six NJ counties in fiscal year 1819; classes are provided at the police academies in Bergen, Somerset, Union, Middlesex, Morris and Monmouth counties. The out reach component provides information, support, and referral to police officers who are primary or secondary victims of domestic violence. Our confidential surveys show that 34% of police officers witnessed domestic violence as children; 48% said they would use information to personally help a family member; and 24% reported that they were abused in a current or former relationship. We provided resource information to 262 officers in fiscal year 1819. The PREP outreach component is supported by the Victims Assistance Grant program, funded by the NJ Office of the Attorney General, Dept of Law and public Safety.

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1Each year, the 990 is provided to APFC's board of Trustees via email. At the subsequent board meeting, the trustees and senior staff will reiew it and discuss any issues or questions that arise.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2We have a conflict of interest policy however, the need has never arisen to enforce it.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3Compensation determination for the co-directors is based on research of other executive directors at New Jersey non-profits (taken from the 2016 990's), and by research conducted from various websites including Salary.com.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4The organization is registered in the state of New Jersey. APFC's governing document, financial statements and conflict of interest policies are made available to the public upon request.
