Mission and Program Overview

Mission

A partnership for change (apfc) is a nj-based 501(c)(3) non-profit agency dedicated to ending intimate partner violence through the provision of education and awareness programs, crisis intervention and short-term counseling to victims.

Our mission is to break the cycleof abuse in all relationships by offering comprehensive prevention and awareness programs that educate and empower communities to end family violence.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
During the 13/14 Fiscal Year our program service accomplishments follow: (1) Expanded our PowerBack teen dating abuse education program to include a fourth school. We conducted nine (9) school-wide assemblies reaching 639 students, and facilitated 37 PowerBack meetings where 46 teens were certified as peer leaders. APFC staff and peer leaders provided support and referral to 139 teen victims who disclosed dating abuse or family violence and conducted four school-wide events in the spring reaching 1,500 teens with information and resources. APFC conducted seven (7) workshops for adults reaching 241 teachers, counselors, school staff and parents/guardians; 4 adult victims came forward and were provided with crisis counseling and referral. Our PowerBack counseling consultant conducted 18 private sessions to 7 teens referred by school staff. (2)Continued with our police officer training program (PREP) in Union County, NJ conducting 28 workshops reaching 288 police officers from 28 departments from Union, Middlesex, Monmouth, Essex and Hudson counties. (3)Expanded PREP into Bergen County, NJ with the support of new VAWA funding; we conducted 24 workshops reaching 283 police officers from 35 different departments in the county. (4)Provided one round of our IPVA (Intimate Partner Violence Advocate) professional training series reaching 33 social service and healthcare professionals in the fall of 2013. And (5)Presented fifteen (15) fee-for service workshops for various social service agencies, schools, healthcare agencies and professional organizations throughout the state.$150,019$157,956
