Mission and Program Overview

Mission

A partnership for change (apfc) is a nj-based 501(c)(3) non-profit agency dedicated to ending intimate partner violence through the provision of education and awareness programs, crisis intervention and short-term counseling to victims.

Our mission is to break the cycleof abuse in all relationships by offering comprehensive prevention and awareness programs that educate and empower communities to end family violence.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
APFC provides youth based prevention initiatives and comprehensive educational programs for human service, healthcare, and law enforcement professionals. Program attendees are empowered with practical information on how to safely and effectively support victims who may be clients, employees, students, colleagues, patients, community members, friends, or family. APFC conducts its programs throughout the state of New Jersey. Service Accomplishments APFC operates two programs that are grant supported ONE Power Back, a teen dating abuse prevention initiative that reaches high school students, faculty, counseling staff, and parents, guardians and caregivers and TWO PREP Police Response Enhancement Program that provides victim impact training for law enforcement professionals in New Jersey. APFC also operates a fee for service program known as the IPVA Intimate Partner Violence Advocate Certification Series which provides continuing education credits for social workers, licensed professional counselors and nurses. Proceeds from IPVA and any other fee for service presentation we provide upon request help to support the agency's operating costs such as liability insurance, utilities, travel, filing fees, and other expenses which are not covered by grant funds. Accomplishments for this fiscal year include IPVA Series where we conducted five classes educating 33 professionals including counselors, social workers, nurses, victim advocates. Power Back is a year long program where we participated in three high schools reaching nearly 3,000 high school students. We held 23 training sessions for teen peer leaders with 66 students receiving their certification. More than 300 students participated in our peer leadership program. Our staff provided support information and referral to 18 teen victims and our trained Power Back peer leaders provided support to another 44 teens seeking help. PREP conducted 33 workshops at three training sites reaching 323 police officers from 81 departments in eleven counties in New Jersey. Fee Paid Programs included 12 presentations this year, one teen workshop for Jefferson Township HS, River Dell HS, and Roselle Park HS. Fee Paid Programs for Adults included six workshops reaching 335 people including community members, high school faculty, health professionals and attorneys. Fee Paid Programs for Teens included teen forums at five high schools reaching 1,398 teens. Community Programs which was pro bono included a presentation reaching 125 college nursing students.$0$161,553
