The council is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code (the code), therefore, no provision for income taxes is reflected in the financial statements. The council has been classified as a publicly supported organization that is not a private foundation under section 509(a) of the code. The council presently discloses or recognizes income tax positions based on management's estimate of whether it is reasonably possible or probable that a liability has been incurred for unrecognized income taxes. Management has concluded that the council has taken no uncertain tax positions that require adjustment in its financial statements. U.s. Forms 990 filed by the council are subject to examination by taxing authorities.

UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF MEDICAL AND COUNSELING STAFF, THE PROGRAM OFFERS MEDICAL AND NON-MEDICAL DETOXIFICATION AND A SOBER ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH PEOPLE MAY SAFELY BEGIN THE PROCESS OF RECOVERY. THE CLIENTS SERVED BY THE PROGRAM ARE NOT IN NEED OF HOSPITALIZATION. THE CENTER PROVIDES A TEMPORARY SHORT TERM RESIDENCE FOR CLIENTS AWAITING REFERRAL TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF CARE AND SERVICES. WHILE IN THE PROGRAM, CLIENTS PARTICIPATE IN COUNSELING & THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES. FOR MANY, THIS PROGRAM IS THE POINT OF ENTRY INTO THE TREATMENT SYSTEM.

THE COURSE CONTENT FOCUSES UPON TRAFFIC SAFETY, IN ADDITION TO SOCIAL, MEDICAL AND LEGAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE ABUSE OF ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUGS. ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND SEVEN WEEKLY CLASSROOM SESSIONS FOR A TOTAL OF SIXTEEN CONTACT HOURS. THE PROGRAM SEEKS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS OF DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE BY IDENTIFYING INDIVIDUALS WITH POSSIBLE CHEMICAL ADDITIONS, AND PROVIDING EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES. ALL STUDENTS UNDERGO A SCREENING PROCESS THAT RESULTS IN SOME INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING A REFERRAL FOR FURTHER EVALUATION AND OR TREATMENT. INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING IDP CLASSES MAY SIGN UP FOR THE PROGRAM THROUGH A LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE. MOTORISTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A CONDITIONAL LICENSE UNTIL ENROLLED IN AN IMPAIRED DRIVING PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, LEGISLATION PASSED IN 2006 MANDATES PARTICIPATION IN A IDP FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO WISH TO PLEA BARGAIN TO A LESSER CHARGE.

IN ADDITION, THEPROGRAM OFFERS MANAGEMENT TRAINING & CONSULTATION TO FACILITATERESOLUTION OF STAFF RELATED ISSUES.THE STAGGERING PACE OF CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY AND THE UNPRECEDENTED NEEDTO JUGGLE WORK AND FAMILY PLACES MANY PEOPLE UNDER TREMENDOUS STRESS.FOR SOME, THIS STRESS CONTRIBUTES TO POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEMS SUCHAS ABUSE, DEPRESSION & FAMILY CONFLICT. PERSONAL CRISIS OF THIS NATURECAN SIGNIFICANTLY HINDER JOB PERFORMANCE.NORTHPOINT'S EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES SHORT-TERMCOUNSELING, PREVENTIVE EDUCATION & REFERRAL SERVICES TO ASSIST OURCLIENT COMPANY EMPLOYEES IN RESOLVING PERSONAL PROBLEMS BEFORE THEWORKPLACE BECOMES DISRUPTED & CAREERS ARE JEOPARDIZED
