Adolescent outpatient counseling services are provided for youth ages 12-21 & their families. Services are age-specific, addressing developmental tasks of adolescence as part of the recovery process. Supportive counseling is offerred for parents, including skills education. Family & couples counseling are available for individuals & families affected by alcohol and other drugs of abuse. Gambling recovery counseling services offers assessment & treatment for problem & compulsive gamblers & those who are close to them at all three outpatient clinics.

Prevention and education (p&e) an integral part of northpointe council's prevention & early intervention efforts, the prevention education program provides a wide range of services designed to promote responsible choices regarding alcohol & other drug use, to educate the communityabout alcoholism & addictive behaviors, particularily that there are preventable & treatable health issues. The goals of the prevention education program are to: 1. Provide accurate information about alcohol, tobacco and other drugs to prevent abuse & dependence. 2. Promote social competancies & life skills. 3. Support activities that focus on constructive recreation rather than substance use 4. Educate & train professionals who impact the behaviors of others 5. Identify as early as possible, individuals at high risk & provide intervention services & referrals. 6. Influence the social policies & community norms regarding drug & alcohol use & abuse. Drinking driver program the drinking driver program is operated in conjunction with the nys department of motor vehicles. The program is an educational program for persons convicted of driving while intoxicated or impaired. The course content focuses upon traffic safety, in addition to social, medical and legal problems caused by the abuse of alcohol & other drugs. All students must attend seven weekly classroom sessions for a total of sixteen contact hours. The program seeks to prevent future incidents of driving while under the influence by identifying individuals with possible chemical additions, and providing early intervention services. All students undergo a screening process that results in some individuals receiving a referral for futher evaluation and or treatment. Individuals who are interested in attending ddp classes may sign up for the program through a local department of motor vehicles office. Motorists are not eligible a conditional; license until enrolled in a drinking driver program. Additionally, legislation passed in 2006 mandates participation in a ddp for all individuals who wish to plea bargain to a lesser charge. Employee assistance program (eap) northpointe council's employee assistance program has been providing, confidential counseling to thousands of employees at local businesses & other organizations since 1975. This employment benefit includes free counseling foe the employees & their families to help them resolve problems that affect their personal lives or performance on the job. In addition, the program offers management training & consultation to facilitate resolution of staff related issues. The staggering pace of change in our society and the unprecedented need to juggle work and family places many people under tremendous stress. For some, this stress contributes to potentially serious problems such as abuse, depression & family conflict. Personal crisis of this nature can significantly hinder job performance. Northpoint's employee assistance program provides short-term counseling, preventive education & referral services to assist our client company employees in resolving personal problems before the workplace becomes disrupted & careers are jeopardized. Gambling prevention gambling and education grant from niagara county to educate and treat individuals with gambling problems. Youth services the prevention educations program's youth services seek to reduce alcohol, tobacco & other drug use among youth by providing on-site services in primary, secondary & high schools as well as colleges and universities. Presentations are also offered to a wide range of community organizations & groups. The program offers evidence-based model programs such as "too good for drugs", "project alert", "keep a clear mind- and "life skills training". Specific presentations covering such topics as drug use among athletes, alcohol advertising in the media, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, youth and gambling, as well as a community be summer smart program are also offered. OPERATING 24/7, THE CENTER HAS SEVEN MEDICALLY SUPERVISED BEDS AND SEVENTEEN MEDICALLY MONITORED BEDS. UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF NURSING AND COUNSELING STAFF, THE PROGRAM OFFERS MEDICAL AND NON-MEDICAL DETOXIFICATION AND A SOBER ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH PEOPLE MAY SAFELY BEGIN THE PROCESS OF RECOVERY. THE CLIENTS SERVED BY THE PROGRAM ARE NOT IN NEED OF HOSPITALIZATION. THE CENTER PROVIDES A TEMPORARY SHORT TERM RESIDNNCE FOR CLIENTS AWAITING REFERRAL TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF CARE AND SERVICES. THE GOALS OF THE PREVENTION EDUCATION PROGRAM ARE TO: 1. PROVIDE ACCURATE INFORMATION ABOUT ALCOHOL, TOBACCO AND OTHER DRUGS TO PREVENT ABUSE & DEPENDENCE. 2. PROMOTE SOCIAL COMPETANCIES & LIFE SKILLS. 3. SUPPORT ACTIVITIES THAT FOCUS ON CONSTRUCTIVE RECREATION RATHER THAN SUBSTANCE USE 4. EDUCATE & TRAIN PROFESSIONALS WHO IMPACT THE BEHAVIORS OF OTHERS 5. IDENTIFY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, INDIVIDUALS AT HIGH RISK & PROVIDE INTERVENTION SERVICES & REFERRALS. 6. INFLUENCE THE SOCIAL POLICIES & COMMUNITY NORMS REGARDING DRUG & ALCOHOL USE & ABUSE. DRINKING DRIVER PROGRAM THE DRINKING DRIVER PROGRAM IS OPERATED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES. THE PROGRAM IS AN EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM FOR PERSONS CONVICTED OF DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED OR IMPAIRED. THE COURSE CONTENT FOCUSES UPON TRAFFIC SAFETY, IN ADDITION TO SOCIAL, MEDICAL AND LEGAL PROBLEMS CAUSED BY THE ABUSE OF ALCOHOL & OTHER DRUGS. ALL STUDENTS MUST ATTEND SEVEN WEEKLY CLASSROOM SESSIONS FOR A TOTAL OF SIXTEEN CONTACT HOURS. THE PROGRAM SEEKS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS OF DRIVING WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE BY IDENTIFYING INDIVIDUALS WITH POSSIBLE CHEMICAL ADDITIONS, AND PROVIDING EARLY INTERVENTION SERVICES. ALL STUDENTS UNDERGO A SCREENING PROCESS THAT RESULTS IN SOME INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING A REFERRAL FOR FUTHER EVALUATION AND OR TREATMENT. INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN ATTENDING DDP CLASSES MAY SIGN UP FOR THE PROGRAM THROUGH A LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES OFFICE. MOTORISTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE A CONDITIONAL; LICENSE UNTIL ENROLLED IN A DRINKING DRIVER PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, LEGISLATION PASSED IN 2006 MANDATES PARTICIPATION IN A DDP FOR ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO WISH TO PLEA BARGAIN TO A LESSER CHARGE. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) NORTHPOINTE COUNCIL'S EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM HAS BEEN PROVIDING, CONFIDENTIAL COUNSELING TO THOUSANDS OF EMPLOYEES AT LOCAL BUSINESSES & OTHER ORGANIZATIONS SINCE 1975. THIS EMPLOYMENT BENEFIT INCLUDES FREE COUNSELING FOE THE EMPLOYEES & THEIR FAMILIES TO HELP THEM RESOLVE PROBLEMS THAT AFFECT THEIR PERSONAL LIVES OR PERFORMANCE ON THE JOB. IN ADDITION, THE PROGRAM OFFERS MANAGEMENT TRAINING & CONSULTATION TO FACILITATE RESOLUTION OF STAFF RELATED ISSUES. THE STAGGERING PACE OF CHANGE IN OUR SOCIETY AND THE UNPRECEDENTED NEED TO JUGGLE WORK AND FAMILY PLACES MANY PEOPLE UNDER TREMENDOUS STRESS.
