IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0RESIDENTIAL ROCHESTER SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF (RSD) PROVIDES HOUSING FOR STUDENTS WHOSE INDIVIDUAL EDUCATION PLAN (IEP) REQUIRES IT AS PART OF THEIR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING. MOST OF THESE STUDENTS ARE RESIDENTS OF SCHOOL DISTRICTS OUTSIDE OF MONROE COUNTY FOR WHOM A DAILY COMMUTE WOULD BE IMPRACTICAL. DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, 16 STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN THE RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM WHICH WAS OPERATIONAL EVERY MONDAY THROUGHT FRIDAY. A VAST MAJORITY OF THESE STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES SUCH AS ATHLETICS, DRAMA CLUB, YEARBOOK CLUB, SCOUTING AND OTHER AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES AT RSD. SEVERAL OF THEM WERE ACTIVE MEMEBERS OF JR. NAD (JUNIOR NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF THE DEAF) WHICH PROVIDES LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AS WELL.
