Activity 2

Community servicecommunity service program - for more than five decades, qlf founder, robert a. Bryan, has directed and managed community service programs in the organization's home region of new england and eastern canada. Working in collaboration with qlf staff, mr. Bryan oversees and provides professional guidance on community service projects in qlf's home region to include internships, biodiversity conservation, and community-based conservation. And in collaboration with qlf management based at qlf headquarters in massachusetts, mr. Bryan manages the organization's scholarship program, which provides supplemental financial support to promising university students in new england and eastern canada. The scholarship program is an historic program of the organization. During the year, mr. Bryan and staff raise funds in support of the program allowing the organization to meet the needs of an increasing number of qualified students requiring academic support. In a published scholarship directory, mr. Bryan has documented the five-decade program with the names of scholarship recipients and their field of academic study. In addition, mr. Bryan has worked on the archival documentation of his lifelong career as founder of the organization, bush pilot, and anglican minister in new england and eastern canada. He has recently completed his writing and editing of the final draft of his memoirs, which document a half-century of community service, aviation and ministry along the coastal communities of the quebec north shore and southern labrador. And, as well, mr. Bryan continues to restore and archive the historic and invaluable film he has taken over the last five decades, which document rural life in eastern canada.

Activity 3

Leadershipthe leadership program - the leadership program is established to provide training opportunity and experiential learning for interns (college undergraduate and graduate students) and volunteers (high school students). From the headquarters in massachusetts, the organization managed fifteen internships (in 2013) corresponding with the following programs: conservation biology; culture and heritage; heritage rivers; the sounds conservancy (a marine research program along the sounds and coastal waters of southern new england and new york); and the middle east conservation exchange program. The acadian fellowship in regional conservation and stewardship - the organization provided financial support and worked in partnership with the schoodic education and research center institute, acadia national park, and the university of maine to direct a fellowship for emerging conservation professionals to study large landscape scale conservation in the acadian region of downeast maine. Fellows were students from the united states and overseas. Alumni relations - the quebec-labrador foundation maintains active communication with alumni (former interns, volunteers, international fellows, and partner organizations) through the annual report; compass, the annual newsletter; the website; the alumni newsletter, a quarterly electronic newsletter for alumni; social media; and special electronic bulletins. Maintaining communication is essential for purposes of establishing program partnerships with alumni and donor relations.
